Seoul, Korea (PRWEB) April 02, 2013 - Coex Convention and Exhibition Center, Seoul, has announced the appointment of Bo Kyung Byun as new President and CEO, as the three-year tenure of predecessor Sung Won Hong came to an end. The leadership transition was effective as of March 28th.
Mr Byun has extensive experience heading several of Korea’s top information and technology corporations, including LG-IBM PC and KOLON Global. Since 2011 Mr Byun has contributed substantially to Korea’s global convention and exhibition industry and international relations through his role as CEO and President of the Seoul Business Agency, one of Korea’s leading organizations offering growth support to small and medium sized domestic businesses. Mr Byun’s knowledge of these fields is anticipated to facilitate the further development of Coex as a national and international events hub for global commerce and trade.
The changeover was finalized after a process involving public medias implemented to ensure the fair and transparent recruitment of all members of Coex staff. Mr Byun was selected from a pool of almost sixty candidates, all of whom were assessed on strengths including interpersonal relations, leadership, and related experience.
Mr Byun said that as CEO, he hopes to both raise the international profile of Coex, also heightening the center’s sense of social responsibility and support of local industries.
The management change comes at an exciting time for Coex. This year sees the largest ever record of international events held at the center, including the UFI congress in the fall, in-house organized exhibitions show steady growth, and the massive planned redevelopment of its underground shopping mall - already Asia’s largest – has recently begun.
Coex is Korea’s busiest convention and exhibition center and hosts over 2,000 events every year. For more information visit Coex online http://www.coex.co.kr/eng
