Dubai – United Arab Emirates, April 6th 2013: Lt. Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim Chief of Dubai Police, and HE Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority announced the re-launch of the International Emergency and Catastrophe Management Conference and Exhibition (IECM) which will be held in its ninth edition next year in conjunction with DIHAD Conference and Exhibition. The announcement took place during the tenth edition of DIHAD Conference and Exhibition which concluded last week.
Lt. Gen Dhahi Khalfan said after the announcement: “I would like to announce that the Dubai Police and the crisis and disaster management department in Dubai will give their full support to the IECM, and I would like to also announce our presence and participation in the event next year. The IECM is one of the most vital events not only in the UAE, but also in the region and the world.”
Lt. Gen Dhahi Khalfan also called for organizing training workshops during the conference and called for an annual meeting to discuss the topics that shall be featured during the conference and also to discuss possible challenges and how to avoid them. He also praised the idea of organizing this event which will gather all specialized organizations in the field of emergency and catastrophe and he asked these organizations to join their efforts and deliver their best in this field.
From his side, HE Essa Al Maidoor highlighted the importance of the IECM. He also said: “the IECM is connected with DIHAD in so many ways as they both tackle the emergency and humanitarian field; they also share the same concerning topics. It is very important to organize the two events together as they both serve the humanitarian and development sector not only in the region but also globally.” HE also announced that a number of international specialists in the emergency and catastrophe field will be present at the conference.
The IECM will be held under the theme: “Emergency and Catastrophe in Human Resources” and will discuss different topics, including: Emergency Medicine, Emergency Management, Trauma Activation, Trauma Management, Pre-hospital Care, Neurological Emergencies, Psychological Emergency, Disaster Activation, Disaster Resources, Disaster Logistics and the Risks that media crew are exposed to during disasters.
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, the Executive Chairman of the IECM said that the conference will promote discussion in order to find best methods and solutions through constructive interaction between specialized organizations working in the emergency and catastrophes business and the humanitarian bodies. “The IECM conference also encourages partnerships between humanitarian and development associations, and discusses best ways to response in disaster and emergency situations” said Dr. Al Madani
