Dubai – United Arab Emirates, April 16th 2013: HE Essa Al Maydoor, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority inaugurated today the Thirteenth edition of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai DERMA) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. HE Al Maydoor was accompanied by a number of world prominent dermatologists and specialists in the field.
Dubai DERMA is an annual event held under that patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai Health Authority, and is held in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority, the International Academy of Medical Specialisation, GCC League of Dermatology and the Pan Arab League of Dermatology.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, HE Al Maydoor toured the exhibition where he was delighted by the annual growth and development that Dubai DERMA achieves every year. HE also emphasized that Dubai DERMA has become one of the largest and most advanced conferences focusing on skin care, and attracts the most specialised dermatologists from all over the world.
HE Essa Al Maydoor, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority said: “the Dubai Health Authority has always been keen to participate in Dubai DERMA conference and exhibition which has become an elite event in the field of dermatology and its technologies in the region. Dubai DERMA attracts thousands of participants every year, in addition to that, the exhibition is supported by the participation of international companies who come from all regions of the world to display their latest industrial products, cosmetics and machines that help in diagnosing and treating skin diseases and problems and the latest in plastic surgery.”
HE also stressed on the speciality of this event. He said: “the DHA is always keen to benefit from Dubai DERMA and meet the experts and learn from their expertise. We at the Dubai Health Authority are keen to develop ourselves in order to provide ultimate services for our patients. We strive to adopt new and developed high tech approaches for patients diagnosed with skin diseases when they come and visit the Dubai Dermatology Centre established by the DHA. The Centre is fully equipped with premium machines to serve the community and residents of Dubai and the UAE.
Dr. Oumeish Oumeish, Secretary General of Dubai Derma and International Academy of Medical Specialisation said at the opening ceremony: “this year we celebrate the 13th anniversary of Dubai DERMA and on this occasion we were confident to organise industry leading workshops and seminars to promote continuing medical education and strengthen scientific networking and cooperation among dermatologists in the region and the world.”
Dr. Oumeish also encouraged all the participants and attendees to vote for Dubai to host the World Dermatology Congress (WDC) in 2019. He said: “Dubai is nominated to host the (WDC) in 2019. The WDC is organised every four years, and it will be held in Vancouver – Canada in 2015. So I encourage everyone to vote for Dubai to host the WDC in 2019. Dubai would be part set for the event as it is positioned in the heart of one of the world's rapidly advancing regions and has a great selection of world class hotels, restaurants, resorts and shopping centres, it also has an excellent infrastructure and has large selections of auditoriums for conferences and exhibitions. We should also mention the fascinating heritage, culture and a civilized cosmopolitan community. So lets all vote for Dubai to host this prestigious event.”
Dr. Ibrahim Galadari Chairman of the Dubai Derma Conference and Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University welcomed all of the speakers and specialists who came from all over the world to participate in Dubai Derma. He also announced that for this edition, there are more than 80 prestigious speakers mainly from America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East whom are professors and doctors of all fields of dermatology.
Dr. Galadari said: “As part of its commitment to deliver high-quality programs, the Dubai Derma committee intelligently planned its topics and courses meeting the standards of the accreditation policy to meet the continuing medical education requirements of the participants.”

Further more, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Derma extended his gratitude to HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous patronage of Dubai DERMA and stressed on the elite place of Dubai DERMA in the region. He said: “Dubai DERMA is one of the major annual medical events in the Middle East. This year we have more than 250 exhibitors from 55 countries exhibiting their latest technologies, treatments and products.” Dr. Al Madani is expecting more than 6,000 participants and trade visitors this year coming from all over the world.
