Houseware and Textile Fairs Open Saturday at HKCEC
17 April 2013 – More than 6,700 exhibitors from 46 counties and regions are expected to take part in four major trade fairs this month. The HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles & Furnishings Fair open this Saturday (20 April) and continue through 23 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, at the HKCEC, and the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, at AsiaWorld-Expo, will run from 27 April to 30 April.
ASEAN Pavilion at Houseware Fair
The 28th edition of the Hong Kong Houseware Fair, the largest fair of its kind in Asia, will host more than 2,000 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions, including newcomer Slovenia. The fair will feature 17 group pavilions, including the ASEAN Select pavilion, with about 80 exhibitors showcasing products from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The Chinese mainland (Shangyu) and Sri Lanka are first-time fair pavilions.
Highlights include the new World of Fine Décor zone, which will present 59 exhibitors. The Hall of Elegance returns, spotlighting such brands as BWT, Metier Atelier, Multiple Choice by Topchoice, Thomson Pottery and Umbra. Also back are the World of Fine Dining, the Small-Order Zone and the World of Pet Supplies.
Spotlight on Pet Supplies
Pet Supplies is also spotlighted in an industry forum (21 April), and a seminar on the pet-care business in emerging markets (22 April). Other information sessions include a designer forum (21 April), a houseware buyer forum spotlighting Asian market opportunities (22 April), and a seminar on boosting the home products business through e-tailing (22 April). Special events range from ASEAN cooking demonstrations through each of the fair’s first three days (20-22 April), to a houseware product demonstration in the Sri Lanka Pavilion (22 April).
Handmade Carpets
The fourth Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair will welcome more than 220 exhibitors from five countries and regions, including three group pavilions: the Chinese mainland (Zhejiang), India’s Handloom Export Promotion Council and India’s Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts. The new Fine Handmade Carpets zone will feature high-end handmade carpets from India and Iran, while the returning Hall of Glamour will spotlight high-quality products by top designers, including: Ajaz Nanda Design (India), Chung Kong Kai Lok (Hong Kong), Craftex India, J-tex (Hong Kong) Kerala Balers Private Ltd (India), Livington (Hong Kong), Sarla Handicrafts P Ltd (India), Shiv Shakti Exports (India) and Small World (Hong Kong).
Other product zones at the fair include Baby & Bedroom Textiles, Bathroom & Kitchen Textiles, Carpet & Floor Coverings, Upholstery & Furnishing Products, and Window Fashion & Accessories. A home textiles buyer forum (21 April) and a handmade carpet forum (22 April) are among the fair’s industry trend sessions.
A World of Gifts
The Gifts & Premium Fair, the largest of its kind in the world, will present the latest gift products of more than 4,100 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including first-time participation from Zambia, and 16 group pavilions.
Gift Fair highlights include six new product zones: Boutique Deluxe, featuring such luxury items as gold pens, gemstone globes and high-end cigar boxes; Jewellery Galleria, focusing on corporate jewellery gifts; the Hong Kong New Design Force, showcasing local design talent; Scarfs & Ties; Sunglasses; and Value-for-Money Gifts. The Hall of Fine Designs returns, with such high-end brands as Cerruti 1881, Christopher Vine Design, Kimmidoll, Lexon, SEMK and Swarovski Elements. Also back are the popular World of Gift Ideas, iAccessories, showcasing smartphone and tablet gadgets and accessories, and the Small-Order Zone, presenting more than 300 gift, electronics and houseware products.
Special fair events range from the 27 April Taiwan Design Center’s product launch to 29 April seminars on safety compliance and accreditation, giftware and e-tailing trends. The presentation ceremony of the second Hong Kong Smart Gifts Design Awards will be held on 27 April, with the winning entries will be on display in Hall 5E throughout the fair.
Packaging Business
The eighth edition of the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair will host 360 exhibitors, including newcomers from the United States and Vietnam, at AsiaWorld-Expo. Highlighted products include high-security anti-counterfeiting labels and advanced RFID systems, as well as luxury packaging and materials at the De Luxe zone.
A series of seminars and symposiums will cover such topical trends as luxury packaging (27 April), upgrading your brand by going green (28 April) and cross-media publishing (29 April). Throughout the fair, the “The Art of Premium @ Harbour City” will showcase 24 elegantly designed collections of red packets made of deluxe paper using high-end printing technology.
