Nearly 4,500 Exhibitors Participating in Two Global Trade Shows

27 April 2013 – Nearly 4,500 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions are taking part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, the largest fair of its kind in the world, and the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair. The two shows opened today and continue through 30 April. The Gift Fair is taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, while the Printing and Packaging Fair is on at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Six New Zones
The 28th edition of the Gift Fair welcomes more than 4,120 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, a new exhibitor record. Zambia is a first-time participant, and 16 group pavilions are taking part.

The fair features six new zones: “Boutique Deluxe,” for deluxe gifts, the “Hong Kong Design New Force,” featuring local designer brands, and the “Value-for-money Gifts zone,” offering competitively priced products, as well as specialised product zones “Jewellery Galleria”, “Scarfs & Ties” and “Sunglasses.” The popular “Small-Order zone,” which launched last year, is back, featuring products in more than 320 showcases.

Designer Showcase
The Hall of Fine Designs returns, presenting the designer products of more than 140 brands, including: Cerruti1881, Christopher Vine Design, Kimmidoll, Lexon, Nina Ricci, Panda-a-Panda, SEMK and Swarovski Elements. More than 760 exhibitors are also showcasing trend-setting offerings in the World of Gift Ideas, while iAccessories is spotlighting gadgets and accessories for smartphones and tables.

Spotlighting Industry Trends
A variety of product parades and demonstrations, as well as information sessions, are taking place. Seminars include a spotlight this afternoon on innovative product design, with safety compliance and accreditation, and giftware and e-tailing trends among the 29 April fair highlights. Tomorrow a marketing briefing looks into trends in the gift and premium industry.

The presentation ceremony for the “Hong Kong Smart Gift Design Awards” will be held tonight at a networking reception. The Smart Gift Design Awards is organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, and the winning entries will be on display in Hall 5E throughout the fair period.

High-Tech Printing and Packaging
The Printing and Packaging Fair welcomes more than 360 exhibitors, including first-time participation from the United States and Vietnam. The latest printing and packaging offerings, including anti-counterfeiting labels, 3D printers and advanced RFID tagging systems, featuring product identification, inventory tracking and sales analysis, are on display.

De Luxe Offerings
The “De Luxe zone” is back, presenting high-end printing and packaging solutions for luxury goods and premium gifts in an elegant setting. Other area highlights include F&B Packaging Solutions, specialising in packaging services, materials and equipment for food, beverages and wine, and the Green Printing & Packaging Solutions Display, showcasing a wide range of eco-friendly paper, paper products and other materials, as well as bio-degradable products, and printing and packaging consumables.

Going Green
The latest industry developments and trends are also in the spotlight. This afternoon, a seminar reveals luxury packaging secrets and IT trends. Tomorrow, a symposium looks at the value of going green, while 29 April sessions include a focus on cross-media publishing and another on brands.

Throughout the fair, the “The Art of Premium @ Harbour City” displays 24 elegantly designed collections of red packets made of deluxe paper and using high-end printing technology.

The Printing and Packaging Fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd.

The two fairs welcome 164 buying missions from 74 countries and regions, counting more than 11,800 buyers representing over 8,200 companies.
