MFTM 2013 was held in the beautiful city of Qingdao on August 11. MFTM 2013 was sponsored by CNOOC Engineering and organized by BMC China Exhibition. Numerous internationally-renowned experts, scholars and project leaders in field of ocean engineering from China, India, the US, Norway and other countries gathered there to exchange and share the experience in modular fabrication technology and management in an in-depth manner and looked forward to a better future of modular fabrication in field of ocean engineering. MFTM 2013 attracted more than 260 participants from altogether 80 enterprises, hitting the record in both the participant number and the forum scale in previous forums.
As a solution capable of realizing lower cost, greater safety and shorter lead time, the modular fabrication technology has been widely used for large onshore and offshore projects in field of LNG, petrochemical and refining, mining, sea water desalinization and wind energy source. MFTM 2013 aims to explore future growth space for modular development and power the sustainable, rapid and health growth of global offshore oil industry through exchanging and sharing the experience of participants in modular fabrication technology and management in an in-depth manner.
Chen Yong, secretary general of Qingdao Municipal Government, Zhou Xuezhong, president of CNOOC Engineering, and Yu Yi, deputy manager of Project Construction Department of CNOOC, delivered the opening remarks for the opening ceremony. Yang Yun, executive vice president of CNOOC Engineering, and Wang Tao, vice president of CNOOC Engineering, co-chaired the forum. Shi You, assistant chief engineer of CNOOC Engineering, Kathryn Lewton-Jones, project marketing director of Dockwise Shipping, and more than a dozen of experts from different countries made the in-depth analyses and interpretations on the opportunities and challenges faced by modular fabrication and the logistics management of modular fabrication projects as well as other related issues.
Through exchanges, participants reached important consensus on the planning and integration of modular fabrication, the new application of modular logistics, the multi-souring strategy of modular fabrication, the interface management of modular projects and other themes, and had a comprehensive understanding and cognition about the cutting-edge information in related fields.
In the wake of the rapid growth of modular fabrication technology and management concept, the modular project has faced increasingly obvious challenges in quality control, logistics difficulty, cost control, engineering plan, operation coordination and other links. Therefore, the participants have also exchanged the difficulties and bottlenecks they encountered during modular fabrication technology and management and put forth a lot of prospective and innovative suggestions, which has embodied the tenet of the forum to pay attention to industrial development and solve practical problems, on the basis of expressing the professional and cutting-edge characteristics of the forum. It was believed that through exchanges, the forum must have a better pushing effect on the future development of modular fabrication.
During the two-day-long forum, the sponsor and organizer would also take the opportunity of Qingdao
Beer Festival to develop more diversified cultural exchange activities, when the participants explored the professional issues of common concern.
