Education, entertainment and inspiration for the younger generation

Dubai, UAE, 1 September, 2013: Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in association with Costa Coffee will be offering inspiration to children of all ages at this year’s Back to School event.

The LitFest team will bring people of all backgrounds together with authors from across the world to promote education, debate and above all else, a love of reading and writing.

Taking place at its new location in the Sheikh Saeed Halls of Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Back to School runs from 4-6 September and this year, the exhibition joins the Dubai Calendar roster of events as part of “Summer is Dubai” campaign.

Yvette Judge, Head of Education and Children’s Programming at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature said: “Going back to school is always an exciting time and this event is a great way to look forward to the year ahead. At the show we will be launching our LitFest competitions aimed at school children and students of all ages, which encourage story-telling, reading for fun and a love of performing and writing poetry, in addition to celebrating our new partnership with Costa Coffee presenting our ‘Open Door’ series of events.”

Shemaine Doyle, Marketing Manager at Costa Coffee UAE added: “The Costa Open Door series is a lively and thought-provoking mix of sessions throughout the year celebrating the written and spoken word. We are delighted to be sponsoring these with the LitFest, starting with the fun storytelling sessions for youngsters on our stand at Back to School.”

Story time – Presented by Costa Coffee & Emirates Airline Festival of Literature will take place on Stand B21 at the following times:
 Wednesday 4 Sept: 12:00noon to 12.30pm, and 2:00pm to 2.30pm
 Thursday 5 Sept: 11.30am to 12:00noon, and 2:00pm to 2.30pm
 Friday 6 Sept: 12.30pm to 1:00pm, and 2:00pm to 2.30pm

Helping to fight germs, Dettol will be on hand during the show, offering children and parents fun and interactive hand washing education sessions, as well as general hygiene tips for parents to help keep their families as healthy as possible.

Mr. Nikhilesh Kalra, Marketing Director, Reckitt Benkiser Arabia said: “Our main goal during this event is to continue educating parents and children about the importance of proper hand washing and hygiene practices through Dettol’s Mission for Health initiative.

“By participating at this exhibition, we hope to further increase the numbers of parents and children we reach. Through our hand washing education programme in schools, we aim to reach 1.2 million children across the Middle East this year alone.”

Educating children on the importance of saving from a young age will be the National Bonds Corporation. Mohammed Qasim Al Ali, CEO, National Bonds Corporation said: “We believe that education is a necessity that every child must be armed with in order to guarantee a brighter future. However, quality education is unquestionably expensive, and the best solution to counteract this problem is to save.

“Some of our most qualified financial advisors will be on hand throughout the duration of the exhibition to provide advice on remunerative financial planning or answer queries about National Bonds scheme. We will also have a set of activities to entertain our younger audience, in addition to exciting gifts and giveaways for visitors.”

Other companies offering demonstrations and interactive games include DEWA, Desert Chill, Emirates Park Zoo, Tashkeel, Fidelity Fitness Club, Samsung Gulf Electronics, Crocs, Sun and Sand Sports, Crayola, Inno Tab by World Wide Traders, Mondelez International - Barni, Almarai, Pelikan Middle East, Creative Brands International , Finishing Touch, Emirates Transport, Norton by Symantec, The Brain Workshop, D2H, UCMAS, Virgin Megastore, Nestle Health Science, Flik Flak, Wadi Adventure and Del Monte.

Ticket prices start at AED15 for individual entry, a special family discount is also available for two adults with up to three children for AED50, while groups of ten people will pay AED100.
