The ninth edition of Paperworld China will be held from 25 – 27 September 2013 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai. It is China’s most international stationery and office supplies trade fair and is expecting to welcome around 500 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions.
Ms Fiona Chiew, Deputy General Manager for the show organiser Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, noted that Paperworld China has developed into a one-stop important industry event. “It is a quality sourcing platform, as well as a platform that offers the latest market news and networking opportunities through various seminars and programmes,” she explained. “We have invited industry experts to speak at seminars covering diverse topics such as retail trends, a new European Union regulation and information about the Russian market.”
Mr Hashimoto Yoshimi is the keynote speaker for “Retail Forum – Trend of Stationery Retail”. He is the former General Manager for the Stationery, Toys and Lifestyle goods section at Ito Yokado Co Ltd, a Japanese department chain store which is one of the world’s top 500 companies. Other speakers with strong retail industry knowledge include representatives from Disney and GfK China. The audience will learn about the latest Asian retail store trends, the needs of Chinese consumers, as well as how to use interior design and store displays to communicate with consumers.
To help business expansion in the Russian emerging market, a seminar relating to the Russian market is a “must-attend” event at Paperworld China. The speaker, Mr Sergey Dolgov, is the publisher of a Russian trade publication and since becoming part of the stationery industry in the 1990s, he has acquired extensive experience. This seminar will offer a better understanding of the Russian stationery and office supplies industry, including the current market situation, sourcing trends and price levels. In addition, updates relating to the Customs Union’s Certification formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will be provided.
Another market seminar will be about the European Union Timber Regulation 995/2010 which was introduced in March this year. This regulation prohibits the trading of illegally harvested timber and timber products in the European Union. Among the speakers is Dr Xiaoqian Chen, Forest Law Enforcement, Government and Trade (FLEGT) Advisor in China, European Forest Institute (EFI) FLEGT Asia Program. Dr Chen and other speakers will help to give the industry a better understanding of the new regulation.
Extraordinary Stationery adds value to show experience
In addition to the seminars, Extraordinary Stationery is one of the important attractions at Paperworld China, adding value to the show experience.
At the Extraordinary Stationery area, there will be Product Presentations, and a display area as well as a DIY Interactive Classroom. At the Product Presentations, international brands such as Pilot, Troika and Philippi will present their latest products which are likely to be popular upcoming trends. The display area also showcases high quality products that are creative and practical.
At the DIY interactive Classroom, buyers will be able to have a “hands-on” product experience enjoying painting, origami, clay and traditional arts and crafts.
Paperworld China is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, the China Chamber of Commerce for I/E of Light Industrial Products & Arts-crafts and Guangzhou Foreign Trade South China Exhibition Corp Ltd. It will be held concurrently with Interior Lifestyle China, the trade fair for lifestyle and household products and accessories.
