Sep 5 (China Knowledge) - Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park, was recently listed as one of the pilot city, district or township to be developed into a Smart City by China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
The Smart City program involves such technology and industries for transportation, urban management, Internet of things and cloud computing. The essence of this program is to allow a Smart City to strengthen its interconnectivity between people and management functions, and that could make information processing and resource allocation more intelligent.
Smart City could also greatly enhance and facilitate people's livelihood. Furthermore, it could make governments' management much easier and efficient through smarter transportation systems and urban planning; therefore, will reduce accidents or strengthen their ability to deal with accidents.
The next steps for Beijing E-Town is to draw up a series of measures for the construction of Smart City that include setting up specific goals and tasks, drawing up of timetable for major projects completion and construction of its related information systems.
