PowerFlex 525 Emerges as Winner in the Editor’s Choice Category for Best Technology Innovation
SINGAPORE – 9 September 2013 – Rockwell Automation, the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and information, announced it won this year’s Asian Manufacturing Awards’ most prestigious category of Editor’s Choice Award – Best Technology Innovation. The award is in appreciation of the company’s Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 AC drive, which was officially released in Asia Pacific earlier this year. Organised by the editorial team in the Manufacturing Group at Contineo Media – publisher of Asia Food Journal, Control Engineering Asia, Logistics Insight Asia, PharmaAsia and a number of other B2B trade publications – the official announcement was made on 29 August at the annual ceremony that recognises superior industrial-technology solutions and value-added services in the region.
The PowerFlex 525 won the top award after the editorial team surveyed a comprehensive range of new products used to enable regional manufacturers to reach and sustain world-class performance in automation and control, industrial software, as well as logistics and supply-chain processes. This drive was selected due to several innovative technologies, including its removable control module – which allows drive installation and configuration to be carried out in parallel, rather than in consecutive stages; thus, realising valuable time savings for machine builders. In addition, the same control module fits the entire range of power modules, reducing customers’ spare-parts inventory. However, most importantly, the PowerFlex 525 was developed for the global market at Rockwell Automation’s Asia-Pacific Business Center in Singapore. This signifies the evolution of Asia from a low-cost manufacturing region to a vital product-development hub for the company.
“Rockwell Automation is proud to be an innovation leader in the automation industry and all of our employees share a commitment to customer success and innovation. We work closely with our customers to understand their business challenges. This customer focus allows us to develop unmatched solutions that consistently surpass customer expectations,” said Tessa Myers, Business Director, Rockwell Automation Asia Pacific Business Center.
Developed to help machine builders and end users simplify equipment design and operation, as well as speed installation and configuration, the PowerFlex 525 represents the first in the company’s next generation of compact drives that deliver more flexible control, offer better communication, and help streamline startup. Its best-in-class features help customers meet their application needs easily and cost effectively – giving customers the performance they need, whilst minimising the total cost to design, develop and deliver machines.
"Our Low Voltage Drives Business and the Asia Pacific Business Center are very honoured to receive this award from the editorial team and judges from Contineo Media and the Asia Pacific edition of Control Engineering,” said Dennis Tang, Business Manager, Component Drives, Rockwell Automation. “We would also like to thank our global customers who shared their current and future product and application requirements, challenging us to exceed them. We are delighted that the function-rich PowerFlex 525 is receiving industry recognition for its industrial-automation innovation, and whole-hearted acceptance from our valued customers.”
The Asian Manufacturing Awards is an annual competition that distinguishes excellent manufacturing-related products, solutions and services in the region, resulting in 39 winners selected by Contineo Media’s international panel of expert judges, who analysed and ranked the respective nominations. The judging process was audited by an external party to ensure fairness and transparency.
