Expanded country / region pavilions at this year’s Interstoff Asia Essential – Autumn

Asia’s leading trade fair for the latest fashionable, functional and eco textiles and accessories opens next week, and includes four fashion shows that will provide buyers with design and trend inspiration for next season. Held from September 25 – 27 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Interstoff Asia Essential – Autumn features over 170 exhibitors from across the Asian region.

This edition also sees the return of the popular country / region pavilions from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. These pavilions have all increased in size this year, which reflects the growing importance of Hong Kong as a hub for the textiles industry in the region, and as a gateway to the production bases and consumer markets in China.

Also expanding in floor space this year is the Research & Education Zone, which features technologically advanced fabrics and the latest industry technology from the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) and the Thailand Textile Institute (THTi). The Designers’ Studio has received a makeover this edition, and features five designers – Chin Chen, Ming-yu Tsai, Owen Chen, Goji Lin and Lindsey Lin – and three fashion brands – FN.ICE, Eversmile and Advance Hitech Textile Intl Corp – from Taiwan. They will showcase their work in three categories: functional & casual sportswear, functional designer apparel and trendy brand-name apparel. And the ever-popular Interstoff Directions Trend Forum features exhibitors’ fabrics grouped into four themes that reflect the Autumn / Winter 2014-15 trends.

Further design and trend inspiration can be found in the four Fabrics to Fashion Walk fashion shows that take place on day one and two of the fair. The two evening shows will feature up-and-coming local designers who have used exhibitors’ fabrics and their own selections to create garments that are a reflection of next season’s trends. In keeping with the fair’s focus on functional fabrics, the day-one Fabrics to Fashion Walk collections from 112 mountainyam and Modement will feature sporty elements. On day two, the designers include Demo, Hang and BLINDbyJW.

Interstoff Asia Essential also provides the opportunity for young designers to hold their debut fashion shows. Twenty fashion design students from the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong have used fabrics sponsored by 20 exhibitors to create menswear and womenswear outfits that will feature in the afternoon shows on day one and two. Selected garments will also be displayed throughout the fairground.
