SINGAPORE, 26 November 2013 – Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has launched enhanced Scan Translation Service*1, a cloud service that promotes global communication, starting November 25*2 in Japan and Asia-Pacific countries and regions (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand).
Scan Translation Service
Enabling quick understanding of documents in foreign languages, Scan Translation Service facilitates global communications by streamlining the translation process when users need to grasp the gist of a document written in a foreign language to determine its importance or urgency, or to facilitate communications between people who speak different languages.
Improved convenience in global scenes
In addition to translation between Japanese and English, Chinese (simplified and traditional) and Korean, the enhanced service now offers direct translation from English to Chinese (simplified and traditional) and Korean. Also, the user interface*3 and operation manual are now available in English, Chinese (simplified and traditional) and Korean, enabling users whose mother tongue is not Japanese to easily use the service.
Linkage of Fuji Xerox’s cloud services to facilitate communication
By linking the Scan Translation Service to the Fuji Xerox cloud service that supports document sharing, documents in DocuWorks and PDF formats can be translated using Scan Translation Service directly from the cloud with a simple operation. The linkage of the cloud services will facilitate communication and information utilization.
Linkage with digital multifunction devices
A tool to access Scan Translation Service is available in the 20 models*4 of the ApeosPort-V C and the DocuCentre-V C series, full-color office digital multifunction devices released on October 31.
*1: As the service is based on machine translation, the translation may not be as accurate as users require. However, the translation accuracy can be improved by adding the dictionaries, and it is recommended to customize the dictionaries.
*2: The launch date varies by country/region.
*3: UI language available on a multifunction device depends on the setting and structure of the device.
