China's most comprehensive meeting platform for the whole water industry chain is officially opened

More international and regional pavilions and groups are choosing to exhibit at the show
Annual summit covers water issues in four sessions

The 2013 edition of Water Expo China + Water Membrane China with 450 exhibitors, will be officially opened on 2 December, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, China, by leading government representative.

The three-day show is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society and the Membrane Industry Association of China. It is approved by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology, and sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources.

Also taking part in the opening ceremony were other government officials and various other representatives:

* Mr Li Zantang, Secretary General of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society
* Mr Cao Jiansheng, Mr Jason Cao, Senior General Manager for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Co Ltd

Mr Cao said that this year’s show covers all the water segments important to China’s current water needs. He explained: “Water Expo China + Water Membrane China is the first water business exhibition and a government approved event where exhibitors and visitors can meet with key government decision makers, collect valuable market information and network with industry peers. It’s key to meeting new agents and distributors and connecting with existing business associates. This year’s show offers many highlights and as a result has attracted a record number of international and regional pavilions and groups, as well as the largest number of buyer delegations from across China.”

More international and regional pavilions and groups are choosing to exhibit at the show

This year’s show has attracted a record number of pavilions and groups represented by Australia, Germany, the German state of Bavaria, Japan, Taiwan region and the UK. There is also an international pavilion which has five exhibitors from Germany, Korea, Malaysia, the UK and the US. The pavilion and group organisers are:

* Australia: organised by the Australian Trade Commission / Australian Embassy Commercial Section, the Australian Department of Industry, and the Australian Water Association
* Germany: organised by the German Industry & Commerce Greater China, Shanghai
* Germany – Bavarian Pavilion: organised by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, in cooperation with Bayern International, Bavarian Bureau for International Business Relations
* Japan: organised by the Japan-China Economic Association
* Korea: organised by the Korea Environment Corporation
* Taiwan Region: organised by the Taiwan Drinking Water Equipment Association
* UK: organised by British Water and UK Trade & Investment

Visitors to Water Expo China + Water Membrane China will include 50 visitor delegations as a result of closer cooperation with associations, industry agencies and organisations, institutes and media. The buyer groups, covering a large water spectrum have helped to push the number of pre-registered show visitors to a new record. Altogether, an estimated record number of 35,000 visitors from 38 countries and regions are expected to visit the show.

Part of the show’s 22,000 sqm exhibition includes a special zone of exhibitors who are attending the show as a result of government agency and association cooperation. The zone supporters include:

* Association of Irrigation & Drainage Enterprise, China
* China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Sub-Council
* China Instruments Manufacturers Association, Analytical Instruments Sub-Association
* China Water Industry Association CCES
* Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Institute of Exploration Technologies
* Shanghai Water Reclamation Trade Association
* Technical Committee of Component and Instrument, Chinese Association of Automation

Also for the first time in Hall 4, project designers/contractors will show different types of Chinese water project achievements to visitors to give them an idea of what the project has involved. Furthermore, visitors can network with those involved in the projects.

Annual summit covers water issues in four sessions

The theme of this year’s 8th China International Water Business Summit is “Water Crisis: China’s Current Situation and Future Choices”.

Commenting on the annual summit, Mr Li Zantang, Secretary General of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society said: “China will offer a package of favourable policies to encourage the private sector to tap into the country’s multi-billion dollar water conservancy infrastructure construction sector. This is part of the support to upgrade China’s water conservancy. At this year’s summit we are also looking towards the future and this will be covered in four sessions, the “China Water Ecology Conference”, “Comprehensive Control and Ecological Restoration of Middle and Small Watersheds and Urban Rivers”, “Water Resources Information and Digital Water Conservancy”, and “Water Price Reformation”.

During the summit, the annual Aqua Star Awards were also presented to various companies for contributions to China’s water industry. The winners of the following categories are:
