SINGAPORE – 17 Dec 2013 – The Smartest Singapore National Championships 2013, an educational event for Singapore primary school students organised by Skoolbo, StarHub, Popular, Microsoft and Samsung, took place at Popular BookFest on Friday 13 Dec. Children competed in 60 second speed challenges in CMT (Chinese, Malay, Tamil), English, Maths and general knowledge. Six champions from P1 to P6 are awarded six trips to Hong Kong Disneyland with their parents.

We are proud to announce the six champions of Smartest Singapore 2013:

Nideesh Hemanand, P1 Champion, Yuhua Primary School
Mikael bin Mohammad Taib, P2 Champion, New Town Primary School
Tan Jing Yang, P3 Champion, Rulang Primary School
Dhathathreyan Natarajan, P4 Champion, Dazhong Primary School
Mithalina bte Mohammad Taib, P5 Champion, Raffles Girls’ Primary School
Samuel Chua, P6 Champion, Rivervale Primary School

Dhathathreyan Natarajan, P4 champion from Dazhong Primary School, said: “I like to play Smartest Singapore every day as it is very fun, interesting and challenging. It keeps ticking my brain faster and widens my knowledge. I have encouraged my friends to join smartest Singapore and they are now in too!”

Mithalina bte Mohammad Taib, P5 Champion from Raffles Girls’ Primary School, said: “I have enjoyed Smartest Singapore very much. Its questions have helped me to work out the answers with speed and accuracy, especially the Math questions. What I like best about the game is that it shows us our previous scores and statistics. Whenever I finish a game I find it helpful to compare my previous scores and improve on my weak points.”

Ms Parvatha, mother of P1 champion Nideesh Hemanand from Yuhua Primary School, said: "We would like to thank the Smartest Singapore team for bringing out such a wonderful concept of learning through playing. Through several times of playing, we were able to see a great amount of improvement in my son's learning. The results section in the Smartest Singapore games was helpful to us to understand Nideesh's performance."

Improving children's literacy and numeracy is the primary focus of Smartest Singapore. For children who have played 60 to 120 games, the average improvement is 22.3%. For children who have played 120 to 200 games, the average rate is 30.4%. Meanwhile, children playing over 200 games get an average rate of 42.6%.

Smartest Singapore 2013 is completely free of charge. Last year children from 118 primary schools participated in the event.
