7 January 2014 – Some 1,800 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions will take part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and HKTDC World Boutique, Hong Kong, 13-16 January, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The two fairs will welcome a number of first-time exhibitors. At Fashion Week, they will include Australia, the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and the United States; at World Boutique, Angola, Korea, Myanmar, Spain, Sweden and Thailand are participating for the first time.
Zoning in on Fashion
Highlights of Fashion Week, the largest event of its kind in Asia, include three new product zones: Activewear, Packaging & Design and Wool & Cashmere. Returning areas include Bridal & Evening Wear, Emporium de Mode, offering stylish fashion in an elegant setting, Fashion Gallery, presenting high fashion, Garment Mart, focusing on mass merchandise, Infant & Children’s Wear, Intimate & Swim Wear and the World of Fashion Accessories.
The Chinese mainland, India, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand and the Hong Kong Apparel Society’s “Textile Element” will feature group pavilions. Special displays will include the Hong Kong Fur Federation’s “Designers Love Fur Collection 2014,” at the Hall 1C Concourse. The Small-Order Zone will present nearly 1,500 garment racks and showcases from more than 120 exhibitors.
Seminar Stars
A series of high-profile seminars will examine the latest fashion intelligence and trends. Vilislava Petrova, Head of Content for WGSN’s APAC region, will lead an opening-day seminar on likely trends in women’s wear for spring/summer 2015, followed by Pecler’s Paris’ men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, knitwear and accessories collection seminar. Nordic fashion is also in the seminar spotlight that afternoon. On 15 January, a seminar on Veronique Leroy, Parisian designer and VIP judge of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest, will take place. Fashion gets personal, with Eddie Lau and Janice Wong talking about their fashion careers, on 14 January and 15 January respectively.
World Boutique: Brand Attraction
The 12th World Boutique, Hong Kong, will welcome a record 300 exhibitors and more than 650 brands from 18 countries and regions. The fair will open to public visitors 18 and over on its last two days (15-16 January). Tickets to World Boutique can be downloaded at: www.hktdc.com/hkinfashion/voucher
Fashion Extravaganza
Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza will again be a highlight of World Boutique. The 13 January gala evening will showcase four internationally celebrated fashion designers: Madrid-based Amaya Arzuaga; Paris-based Calla Haynes; Hong Kong’s Henry Lau; and Paris- and Shanghai-based Masha Ma, presented by W Hotels Worldwide.
Hong Kong in Fashion
“Hong Kong in Fashion,” 2 January to 23 January, is designed to showcase Hong Kong’s role as a fashion hub and lifestyle trendsetter, featuring more than 50 partners, some 160 retail outlets and nearly 50 events. These include the Street Snap Competition, as well as free image and styling services at Times Square. Showpieces of Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza designers will be on display at K11 Piazza from 8 January to 23 January.
Designer Shows
World Boutique and Fashion Week will feature nearly 60 events, including house fashion shows spotlighting i.t, 14 January, Moiselle, 15 January, and Vivienne Westwood, 16 January. Winners of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest, 14 January, will be on display at the Hall 1D Concourse during the fair. Other special events will include: the Footwear Design Competition Hong Kong, organised by The Federation of Hong Kong Footwear Ltd; the Knitwear Symphony, organised by the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society; and the Redress EcoChic Design Award.
