(Hong Kong, 29 January 2014) As the finale of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (“HKCEC”), Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (“HML”) organised and hosted a lunch gathering for 250 elderly people on 26 January 2014, five days before the first day of the Year of the Horse.
According to Chinese custom, families gather to celebrate with a scrumptious meal before the arrival of the Lunar New Year. Apart from an extensive menu specially designed by HML’s chefs, over 50 HML volunteers have prepared games and performances for the participants.
At the end of the lunch gathering, each participant received a goodie bag with a scarf hand knitted by HML staff, snacks, hand cream, Lunar New Year pudding, etc, and a Lai See (red packet symbolising good fortune). All participants had a joyful Sunday.
The lunch gathering was co-organised with Food Angel. HML is committed to corporate social responsibility and has been a long term partner with Food Angel, supporting the food rescue organisation by donating unconsumed food from banquets and restaurants. The food donated is carefully handled and prepared as nutritious hot meals and redistributed to the underprivileged community in Hong Kong.
