Singapore, January 29, 2014 – NEC Asia Pacific, a leading IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator based in Singapore, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation (HQ: Japan) is donating S$10,000.00 to the Singapore Red Cross, in aid of Typhoon Haiyan that struck Philippines on 8 November 2013. This is part of the "NEC Make-a-Difference Drive"(*) to donate to the local Red Cross, NPO and NGO branches across the world, in aid of this disaster.

Employees from NEC Asia Pacific pooled together S$ 5,757.00 in a voluntary donation drive. NEC Asia Pacific later topped up the amount to raise a total of S$10,000.00.

“We are grateful to count NEC Asia Pacific as our partner in caring for those whose lives have been altered by this devastating typhoon. As relief efforts continue to gather pace, the Singapore Red Cross has initiated early recovery programmes aimed at building the long-term resilience of typhoon-stricken communities. Every contribution by NEC AP staff members will go a long way to improve lives and to build resilience,” said Mr. Benjamin William, Secretary General, Singapore Red Cross.

Mr. Lim Kok Quee, Managing Director, NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, said, “As much as we are able to, we would like to lend a helping hand in the recovery of the affected areas as we sympathize with those who are suffering in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. We hope that this contribution (via the Singapore Red Cross) will bring some relief and comfort to the victims.”

NEC would like to extend its heartfelt condolences to those who were personally affected by the recent Typhoon Haiyan that hit the Philippines in November 2013 and to provide rehabilitation support to the affected areas.
