5 March 2014 – The 31st HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show opened this morning and continues through 9 March at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Two Shows, Two Venues
The Jewellery Show, which spotlights finished jewellery collections from all over the world, is part of the “two shows, two venues” arrangement, created this year by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to meet growing demand from exhibitors.

The inaugural HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opened on Monday and continues through 7 March at AsiaWorld-Expo. The new show features loose stones and raw material for jewellery.

Together, the two fairs have attracted more than 3,850 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions. Last year, some 3,340 exhibitors took part in the Jewellery Show.

Trade Pavilions
The Jewellery Show welcome more than 2,300 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions, including new countries Brunei, Norway and Portugal, and 16 group pavilions, four of which are new to the fair: Indonesia, Peru, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Four trade organisation pavilions are also participating: the Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, the Japan Jewellery Association, the Platinum Guild International, and T-Gold International.

Jade to Vintage Jewellery
Fair highlights include seven product zones: Hall of Fame, showcasing international brands; Hall of Extraordinary, presenting prestigious jewellery; World of Glamour, offering fine jewellery from Hong Kong-based exhibitors; the Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria, featuring vintage jewellery; Designer Galleria, spotlighting hip collections; Hall of Jade Jewellery, showing jade pieces in a variety of colours; and Hall of Time, with its focus on brand watches and clocks.

Market Intelligence
Together, the two fairs have organised more than 30 events, including this morning’s Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition award presentation, as well as jewellery parades, networking receptions and a variety of information sessions.

Seminars include today’s look at enhancing consumer confidence in gold jewellery, trends in the Chinese mainland’s online diamond market (6 March), 2015 trend forecasting (7 March) and responsible sourcing, presented by the Responsible Jewellery Council (7 March), and quality assurance in jewellery manufacturing (8 March).

Buying Missions
The two jewellery shows together have attracted some 100 buying missions, counting more than 8,700 buyers representing over 7,000 companies from 76 countries.

Exports Glitter
Exports of fine jewellery from Hong Kong totalled US$7.2 billion last year, up 6.5 per cent, year-on-year.
