Being knowledgeable about drinks can have a larger impact on profitability than the VAT reduction in the restaurant industry. Therefore, the beverage trade fair, Vinordic, which will be held May 6-9, will further develop its Vinordic School concept in order to be able to provide the tools that are needed for improved profitability behind the bar. The trade fair will be held at the same time as the GastroNord food trade fair and the Bocuse d´Or Europe chef championships.
“With Vinordic School we are able to create tangible added value for everyone who visits the fair. Improved knowledge about drinks enhances the restaurant, the guests' experience and, in the end, profitability,” says Daniel Fritzdorf, Event Manager for Vinordic and GastroNord.
At Vinordic School, visitors learn how to compose drink menus and lists, find relevant products and present and sell wines properly. The Champagne Bar and the Rosé Bar offer mini-seminars lasting around 5 – 15 minutes, for example “Cava - no longer just a champagne knock-off”, “Tasting methodology” and “Tailoring your drink list”. Visit www.vinordic.se to see a list of all of the seminars. Vinordic School is a cooperation between Restaurangakademien, CreaVinum, Vinkällan and Min Vinkällare.
Additional activities at Vinordic:
Winners of Vinordic Wine Challenge 2014
This year 840 wines will compete in 12 categories and 44 classes. All of the competition submissions are tasted blind and judged by a qualified jury. The winners will be presented on May 6 by the chairman of the jury, wine critic Bengt-Göran Kronstam.
Discovery Room – “silent tasting” for importers/buyers
The Discovery Room presents wines that have not yet signed with an importer. The visitor is offered the opportunity to look, smell and taste in peace and quiet. Visitors who are interested in a wine simply check a box on the informational sheet that is handed out in the room. The producer then contacts the visitor after the fair.
Champagne Bar and Rosé Bar
Here it is possible to taste rosé wines, champagne and sparkling wines served by knowledgeable staff from Munskänkarna and listen to mini-lectures from Vinordic School.
Mocktail Bar & Cocktail Bar
These bars are located in the area separating Vinordic and GastroNord. The alcohol-free bar, Mocktail Bar, is located on GastroNord's side of Hall A and Cocktail Bar on Vinordic's side. Visitors can test new drinks, learn about new trends and watch competitions. The bars are a cooperation between Snacksbolaget, Nigab and Svenska Barakademien.
GastroNord and Vinordic are northern Europe's largest trade fairs for hotels, restaurants, catering and fast food. The fairs are arranged every second year at Stockholmsmässan.
