TAIPEI, June 29, 2014 -( ASIA TODAY )- The 2014 Taipei International Food Show, Taipei International Food Processing and Pharmaceutical Machinery Show, Taipei International Packaging Industry Show, Taiwan International Hotel, Restaurant & Catering Show, Taiwan International Halal Expo plus the Taiwan International Laundry Industry Show took place between June 25 and June 28 in TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 and the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall.
This joint events saw a total of 1,592 exhibitors with 3,947 booths this year, attracted over 65,600 visitors from Taiwan and abroad. The six shows exhibit a wide variety of products including food, food processing machinery, food service equipment, and laundry facilities, presenting a comprehensive view of Taiwan's food industry supply chain.
The 6-in-1 Food Expo spotlight Taiwan-made products and services ranging from ingredients to production processes, processing equipment, and food services, offering a one-stop shop for buyers. The Food Show featured a total of 1,020 exhibitors in 2,102 booths, including some of Taiwan's biggest industry players such as Nestle, Gem Font, Union Chemical, Ta An Kong Yen, Kim Lan, Haw-di-i, Yilin, Laurel, and Chi Mei. The show also featured local products and companies from Yunlin, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, as well as 35 country pavilions and booths.
This was the 24th year for the Taipei International Food Show. A total of 35 countries had participated this year, breaking last year's record. Eight countries made their debut including Mexico, Swaziland, Vietnam, Croatia, Colombia, Greece, Macedonia, and Austria.
As local Taiwanese grew aware of health issues, demand for health-related information and products has risen. For the first time this year, TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 featured the Vegetarian and Organic Food Area, showcasing 15 vegetarian and organic food companies and offering visitors a dedicated space for vegetarian and organic products.
Targeting the halal market, Taiwanese companies have been active in obtaining halal certification from mosques in Taipei and Taichung, successfully entering the global Muslim market and establishing a strong foundation for Taiwan's halal industries. The second Halal Taiwan took place in TWTC Hall 1 which further increased awareness of Taiwan's halal industry among international buyers.
Halal household goods, cosmetics, and health products were showcased alongside halal foods. With the "Taiwan Exploring the Emerging Halal Market" conference and various procurement meetings, the Expo has been a perfect platform to showcase Taiwan's emerging halal industry.
In response to growing interaction between Taiwan and China in the services industry, the first-ever Taiwan International Laundry Industry Show was also be held in TWTC Hall 1. Laundromat chains and eco-friendly washing were the two main focuses of this show, and the show featured high-profile laundromat chains.
Procurement meetings were the highlight of the 5-in-1 Expo. Thanks to the efforts of TAITRA and Ministry of Economic Affairs offices worldwide, over 2,000 foreign buyers from the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China have registered for meetings. The organizers hosted a "Food Sourcing in Taiwan 2014" conference on June 25 and individual procurement meetings on June 26 to meet the needs of different buyers. This one-on-one matchmaking made doing business easier and more profitable.
