KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA -- Media OutReach -- 3 July 2014 -- Fresenius Medical Care the world's leading provider of dialysis products has set new clinical standards in Malaysia. Its clinic, The Kidney Dialysis Centre (TKDC) Taman Desa became the first private dialysis clinic in the country to achieve international accreditation since September 2013 through ACHSi.
The TKDC clinic recently celebrated its achievement of becoming the first internationally accredited private dialysis clinic in Malaysia at a ceremony when the accreditation plaque was unveiled by Dr Desmond Yen, Executive Director, ACHSi. Guests included Ministry of Health and other government officials.
Excellent renal care is of critical importance, since 60 percent of the Malaysian CKD is caused by diabetes and hypertension[1], and with more than 28,500 Malaysian patients already receiving dialysis treatment[2].
Thanks to the constant commitment of TKDC's staff, the clinic guarantees high quality operations and patient safety. With its accreditation status, TKDC will serve as a model to enhance the country's development in fulfilling safety standards and ultimately maximising patient outcomes.
Fresenius Medical Care Malaysia's Managing Director, Chee Hui Cheng stated: "It is our commitment to deliver high quality care for our patients. We have marked the first milestone in transforming the local renal landscape by attaining international accreditation. Our vision as THE RENAL COMPANY is to accredit our other Fresenius Medical Care clinics so that we take renal care in Malaysia to the next level."
