Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 27th of August 2014: The organising committee of the Oman Products Exhibition “OPEX 2014”, and in cooperation with Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. – member of Index Holding, announced today at a press conference held at the Omani Embassy in the city of Abu Dhabi, the launch of the third edition of the ‘Oman Products Exhibition’ that will take place from 14th until 16th of September 2014 in the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The press conference was presided by Mr. Ayman Abdullah Hamed Al Hasani, Vice-Chairman, Head of Industry and Mining Committee, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice- Chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding, during which they elaborated on the importance of the exhibition that is considered a strategic platform for Omani companies to showcase their products to importers and consumers from across the Gulf region. They also touched upon the reasons for choosing the city of Dubai to host OPEX 2014 in its 3rd edition.
Mr. Ayman Al Hasani, Vice-Chairman, Head of Industry and Mining Committee, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry said: “The distinguished bilateral trade relations and the strong bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates paved the way for choosing Dubai as the host for OPEX 2014, as recent figures reflect well on the non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries which reached to about 5 billion and 455 million US dollars.”
He went on saying: “As officials in both countries work hard to strengthen economic ties and to maximize common interests, expectations for the economy for year 2014 are still high. Annual growth in non-oil sector is expected to reach 5.5% supported by a huge public investment program. Real GDP is also expected to grow by 5.1%, reflecting a slower rate of increase in oil production."
Mr. Ayman Al Hassani added: "The organizing committee aspires to bring together a wide variety of high quality Omani products from various sectors, including: food and beverages, furniture, aluminium products, building and construction materials, textiles and fabrics, perfumes and cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics and utilities. We are also looking forward to important participation from small and medium enterprises and number of entrepreneurs.”
Mr. Ayman Al Haseni also touched upon the important factors that prompted the committee to choose Dubai to host OPEX 2014 in its 3rd edition. He explained that Dubai was their obvious choice as the Emirate is considered a global business hub, while its preparations for hosting Expo 2020 offered many opportunities for stronger trading ties.
From his side, Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice - Chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding said: “We are very pleased to be the main organizers of OPEX 2014 at the United Arab Emirates. From our side, we will be inviting key local and international decision-makers and business leaders to attend the exhibition. OPEX is considered a great opportunity for Omani Businessmen and industrialists to meet with their counterparts in the emirate of Dubai, which has become a global hub for trade, finance, and investment in the Gulf region.”
Eng. Anas Al Madani added: “As the United Arab Emirates is considered a major export and re-export hub in the region, we are expecting great success for OPEX 2014 in its third edition in Dubai, which has become the main destination for important local and international conferences and exhibitions.”
The 3-day trade fair will provide the apt avenue for regional and international businesses and investors to capitalize on the wealth of Oman, through endless mutual business opportunities. The event is organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, Public Authority for Investment Promotion, and Export Development with INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions as the event manager in Dubai.
