Courteous behaviour plays a part in creating more pleasant MTR journeys and also helps to spread joy in the community! That message is the focus of this year’s MTR x RTHK Courtesy Campaign which kicked-off today (9 October 2014) with Hong Kong famous actress and Cantopop singer Miriam Yeung and popular DJs from the RTHK Radio 2 show “Made in Hong Kong” taking the leading roles.

By promoting considerate behaviours when riding on the MTR, these celebrity spokespersons will remind passengers of the many different ways that they can help to create an even better travelling experience for all.

“Allowing others to alight first and moving into the centre of the train compartments are among the simple actions that every passenger can take. By showing care to others in these ways, we can also enjoy a smoother journey. We hope everyone will offer assistance to those in need like senior citizens, persons with disability and pregnant mothers, and offer them priority use of lifts, wide gates and on-train priority seats and multi-purpose areas,” said Mr Sammy Wong, Operations Manager – West Rail Line and Light Rail of MTR Corporation.

“Offering help to a person in need is both satisfying and rewarding. By being courteous, you make others happy and inspire them to behave in the same way. It’s like planting a seed and watching a beautiful flower blossom. We hope that by joining hands with MTR in this campaign, we can help to create a caring community culture that will make everybody’s train journeys more enjoyable,” said Mr Fung Wai-tong, Head of RTHK Radio 2.

During the campaign, the full line-up of Radio 2’s 27 DJs will appear in posters throughout the MTR network and in Light Rail vehicles to promote the joy of assisting others. They will also be offering tips on their programmes on how listeners can feel rewarded by showing considerate behaviour during their railway journeys.
