A Russian center for students from China will be created in the Far-Eastern Federal University. A memorandum on its creation was signed by the rector of FEFU Sergey Ivanets and General Secretary of the China State Scholarship Council Liu Jinghui. The document was signed in presence of deputy chair of the Government of the Russian Federation and vice prime minister of China State Council Liu Yandong as a part of the 15th session of the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation which took place in Ulyanovsk.
The arrangement on creating a center for specialized language training in the Far-Eastern Federal University was reached earlier with the Ministry of Education of PRC. It is planned that Chinese students will be able not only to learn Russian intensively, but also to accomplish supplementary training courses at which business communication skills will be strengthened, different aspects of Russian culture, history, traditions, arts and etiquette issues explained, and peculiarities of the Russian Far East’s development discussed. Upon the training’s accomplishment, the students will be able to pass an examination in Russian and obtain a state-approved certificate.
It should be emphasized that significant attention was paid at the session of the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation to joint measures aimed at the further expansion of the bilateral academic mobility of students and teachers and gradual increase of the number of student exchanges by 2020. The parties expressed their confidence that these days, learning the state language of the partner country is becoming a necessary precondition not only for the development of bilateral academic mobility but also for utilizing the services of the experts speaking Russian and Chinese at common cooperation objects.
We remind that 2014 and 2015 were declared the Youth Exchange Years between Russia and China. One of the tasks of this international project is significant increase of the number of student contacts between the countries. An important role in solving this task will be played by the Russian center in FEFU.
