November 13, 2012, SINGAPORE – Konaka, the first company to revolutionize Japanese men’s fashion with the use of advanced technology, today opened its doors at Plaza Singapura to bring its successful line of men’s and women’s suits, Suit Select, to shoppers here. With its first outlet in Singapore, Suit Select prides itself on offering high quality suits with top quality materials at affordable prices, using innovation and modern technology to cut the cost of production while maintaining the design of its sleek and trendy clothing wear. The collection is showcased in a 1000 square foot store and shoppers are encouraged to use the retail space as a walk-in closet while browsing garments from the brand’s two distinctive lines – ‘Black Line’ and ‘Silver Line’ – including the pioneering Shower Clean Suits.

Founded in 2001, Suit Select was re-branded by world renowned art director, Kashiwa Sato, in 2007. His vision to make Suit Select a brand that excelled not only in quality, but also design, saw him take a hands-on approach in the development of both ‘Black Line’ and ‘Silver Line’ as well as store interiors. This vision, coupled with Konaka’s industry and technological expertise, quickly made Suit Select a brand synonymous with style and quality.
Shower Clean Technology®
One of the company’s most prominent technological breakthroughs, Shower Clean Technology®, is a first of its kind in the fashion world. Developed in cooperation with Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), which owns The Woolmark Company, this fabric allows suits to be cleaned under a shower to easily remove dirt. Odours are also washed away, and the suit can be worn again without being ironed.
Product Lines
Taking a cue from the simple logo of Suit Select – a Fair Flag – the shop layout is well-organized, modern and distinctive. The four vertical lines of the Fair Flag indicate the unique business proposition of the brand - two lines, two prices. The ‘Black Line’ is based on the concept of ‘high-contemporary’ as it takes in the latest trends while evolving the materials and designs for better functionality and aesthetics. ‘Slim’, ‘sharp’ and ‘straight-edged’ are words closely associated with this line. The ‘Silver Line’, on the other hand, is based on the concept of ‘high-traditional’ as the designs retain the classic and universal dignity of men’s suits while also evolving the materials and designs for better functionality and aesthetics. ‘Elegant’, ‘curved’ and ‘comfortable’ are words closely associated with this line.
Pricing
In order to allow shoppers to keep within their budget, Suit Select will feature a 2-tier pricing scheme for all its products.
Store display
The store resembles a walk-in closet that mimics that in a home. The space is divided into two sections according to the concept of ‘two lines, two prices’ - the left side displays the ‘Black Line’ while the right side displays the ‘Silver Line’. Customers can place their selected suits on the central table while coordinating them with shirts and ties, giving customers a fresh and an entirely new approach to buying suits.

Suit Select at Plaza Singapura, the first outlet in Singapore, is located at
#03-52 and will open from 10.00am-10.00pm. With more than 400 stores in Japan, Konaka has established four Suit Select outlets in Thailand, with the aim of opening another 10 outlets in 2013. Konaka will continue to move into Asia with their sight set on Malaysia and Indonesia in the future.
