The inaugural Tank Storage Germany was a major success. The paid for conference and exhibition, which took place at Schuppen 52 in Hamburg in November attracted close to 1,000 senior decision makers, 86 exhibitors, and a world-class speaker line up. Companies such as Vopak, Simon Storage, TanQuid, Emerson and Oiltanking all took part and The Port of Hamburg provided official support.
"Finally a tank storage exhibition and conference in Germany," said Urs Beckmann, the COO of TanQuid GmbH & Co. KG, who is excited to speak at next year’s event.
With 58% of visitors coming from within Germany, the figures suggest that the event has indeed tapped into a real need for an event dedicated to the German market.
Mate Kurtin, Maintenance and Engineering Process Advisor at BP Europa SE, one of many senior figures who attended the show said: "The exhibition is not too big, allowing you to get around it easily and have good conversations, while the conference provided a great opportunity to get an overview of the tank storage business and its challenges."
Germany plays an important distribution role, connecting production and end users within Europe. Furthermore Germany has the third largest storage capacity in Europe, making it a vital logistics hub. Not surprisingly Tank Storage Germany also attracted an international audience with key industry professionals from 38 countries attending the show.
The conference programme played a pivotal role within the show and secured a huge approval rating from the delegates in attendance. The conference featured talks by 20 industry experts including Janhein van den Eijnden, Managing Director at Vopak Germany, Cor Vermeijs, Director Terminal Automation Europe at Emerson Process Management, Sven Thiessen, Managing Director at Oiltanking Germany and Chris Judge, VP, Crude and Products at Argus Media.
Conference attendee, Kamal Asodia, Project Engineer at Petrocity Energy Kenya Ltd, was not alone in saying: “It was an excellent insight into the tank storage field with the latest innovations and trends in the market.”
Exhibitors also found the show a major success, with 93% rating the event as worthwhile or very worthwhile.
"The platform provided a good basis to promote state of the art technology" said Niels Knoops-Weselick, CSO of Wolftank Adisa.
Jamie Lynch, Inside Sales Engineer from exhibitor BS+B Flamesaf agreed: "With visitor numbers higher than expected we will return next year."
Tank Storage Germany joins the world’s largest portfolio of tank storage events which take place in the key bulk liquid storage hubs of Abu Dhabi, Antwerp, Singapore and Rotterdam.
