Small, lightweight device offers the appearance and comfort of regular glasses
At the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 6-9, we exhibited Toshiba Glass, our prototype of a new wearable glasses-type device. Our hands-on exhibit showed applications for Toshiba Glass such as cooking, traveling, performing maintenance work, and transporting packages in storage facilities. Throughout the show, many visitors were able to try on Toshiba Glass and to see it in action.
Toshiba Glass Production Expected Within 2015
Toshiba Glass weighs about 42 grams (1.5 ounces). A small projection module is attached to the right side of the frame. When video is projected through this module, it appears as if the video is floating about 2 meters (6.5 feet) in front of you.
・Projection device does not hinder visibility
・Little stress from long term use, due to size and light weight
・Foldable and easy to carry
・Appearance and use is equal to regular glasses
Since first introducing Toshiba Glass in October 2014, we have received inquiries from about 200 companies globally. Experimental testing will begin for various applications for these companies during the first half of 2015. By the second half of 2015, we expect to begin official production.
