Starting in 2015, Water Expo China, China’s first water business exhibition, will take place from 18 – 20 November. To accommodate continual expansion, the fair will relocate to the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) in Beijing.

Approved by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the show will be organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society. The three-day event covers 25,000 sqm exhibition space, and is expected to welcome over 500 exhibitors, 35,000 visitors and 60 buyer delegations.

Mr Jason Cao, Chairman of the Board of Management for Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, commented: “Water Expo China is highly regarded by industry professionals and this sentiment is reflected in the number of exhibitors and visitors that attended the 2014 show. We had 320 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions, as well as 24,408 visitors from 40 countries and regions, including 50 domestic and international delegations.”

Mr Li Zantang, Secretary General of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, added: “The show is continuously strengthening and this growth is driven by the Chinese government’s forthcoming policies on managing the country’s water sources and waste water treatment initiatives. Additionally, we have built up our cooperation with industry associations, business chambers, research institutions and other related institutions to promote Water Expo China as one of the most important and comprehensive meeting platforms for the water industry.”

The new venue, NCIEC, is a leading exhibition centre and one of the landmarks in Beijing. The first-class fairground, consisting of 16 halls spanning over a total area of 200,000 sqm, has hosted some of the top exhibitions, trade events, seminars and conferences in the country. It is conveniently located 15 km from the Beijing International Airport and near public transportation. Line 15 of the Beijing Metro connects the NCIEC to the city centre and various tourist attractions.

Overseas and domestic pavilions keen on upcoming show

A large number of international exhibitors and pavilions have confirmed their participation in the 2015 show, such as the Korean Pavilion that will return with a larger area than last year. Mr Jin Hai Ri, Exhibition Department Manager of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and one of the Korean Pavilion organisers, expressed: “With the increasing number of water improvement projects in China, the Chinese market is very important to us. We see great potential for Korean companies to expand in China through establishing partnerships and joint ventures.”

Domestic water-related organisations have also exhibited similar levels of enthusiasm towards the fair. The Shandong Pavilion has confirmed its participation in 2015 again and will feature leading companies such as Jinan Anjier Co Ltd, who has reserved a larger booth for 2015 at the 2014 show.

China’s “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan” creates ample business opportunities for industry players

The prevention and control of water pollution is currently one of China’s key development focuses. In the near future, the Chinese government will launch a new policy to guide the country’s water quality issues. Known as the “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan”, the initiative aims to protect water sources. By 2017, the investments for water conversation projects are expected to be worth close to USD 330 billion. Therefore, future business opportunities for industry players are vast.

Water Expo China is recognised among industry players as a platform that cover the entire water value chain. To accommodate government targets for water pollution prevention, exhibits at the 2015 fair include:

* Water resources, water ecology and environment
* Water business
