Thematic zones highlight trends in robotics, machine vision and sensor technology
Scheduled fringe events gather influential speakers to share industry insights and innovations
The SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou, hailed as the leading trading platform for the industrial automation industry, will once again be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from 9 – 11 March 2015. To mark this occasion, a press conference was held today to explain the show’s significance in the industry and give a glimpse of the new highlights of the 2015 edition.
Present at the conference was Mr Hubert Duh, Executive Director of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. Commenting on the 2015 show, Mr Duh said: “China’s manufacturing industry is undergoing a transition and there is surging demand for industrial automation technologies and solutions. Being at the forefront of the industry, the SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou has seen continuous growth and made significant achievements over the years. The 2015 edition will cover 40,000 sqm of exhibition space and occupy four halls, representing an over 14% increase from last year. Professional exhibitors will give visitors the opportunity to marvel at the latest innovations in control systems, sensor technology, software development, driving systems, and related parts and components, all in one location.”
Mr Duh added: “The Guangzhou fair is the sister event of SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Germany. Utilising Messe Frankfurt’s resources and backed by the support of associated partners, the show has achieved tremendous results since its launch in 2010, and continues to draw leading brands from around the world. We have also taken advice from the experts and will organise seminars to address the latest market developments. Not only does the fair help drive the industry forward, but it also offers industry players an unparalleled platform for business networking and information exchange.”
Over 400 international and domestic brands have already confirmed their participation at this year’s fair. Leading brands include Phoenix Contact, Turck, Balluff, Murrelektronik, Rittal, Sanyo Denki, Elco, P+F, Beckhoff, Lti, Wago, Banner and Moons. Industry giant, Siemens, will also return to the show to showcase their latest solutions and products in automation and driving technologies.
More than 80 visitor delegations will also grace the 2015 edition. They consist of over 2,000 professional buyers representing brands such as Media, TCL, OPPO, Bluemoon, Jia Duo Bao, Colgate, Lenovo and Kohler. It is expected that the three-day event will welcome as many as 40,000 visitors from around the world.

Over the years, the fair’s thematic zones, an integral part of the show, have become popular attractions for visitors. The following zones address the most in-demand industry technologies and solutions, including:
Robotics and Machine Vision Zone
This zone is designed to responding to the latest industry topics. With China’s aim to incorporate automated robots into manufacturing production lines, the use of automated industrial robotics in the Pearl River Delta region has grown at an annual rate of 30% – the highest in the country. The government of Guangzhou has also announced plans to build at least two industrial robotics manufacturing facilities by the end of 2020. This zone has captured the attention of some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Nachi, Yaskawa, Epson, GSK, Efort, Kawasaki Robot, Estun-robotics, Lafert, Denso, Cogenx, Datalogic, Hitop, Toyo, PMI, Harmonic, Daheng, Luster and others.
Sensor and Measurement Zone
This popular zone will once again be featured at the show. Germany’s AMA Association for Sensor Technology will display cutting-edge sensor and measurement technologies. Other prestigious companies that can be found here are Contrinex, ifm, Autonics, Kacon, Sick, Hanyoung, Ema, Schmersal, Hummel, Kistler MTS and others.

With support from notable local and overseas alliances and associations, the fair will host prominent speakers including Dr Du Pinsheng, the Deputy General Manager of Phoenix Contact; Dr Reinhard Hueppe, the former Managing Director of the Automation Division at ZVEI in Germany; and Mr Mario Pacas, a professor at the University of Siegen in Germany. They will discuss the thriving possibilities of the industry in various seminars and forums. This year’s topics include:
