Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2015 – the premier trade event in ASEAN region for the automotive and aftermarket industry – opens from 19 – 21 March at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The fair is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and co-organised by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI). Automechanika Kuala Lumpur is also made possible with the constant support from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and industry associations. Additionally, with the assistance from the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), the show is expecting a large number of overseas visitors to attend.

This year’s fair has increased to four halls for the first time, encompassing 7,465 sqm of exhibiting space, a tremendous increase of 49 percent. This space will accommodate the approximately 6,000 visitors expected. Featuring more than 240 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, the 2015 fair has a striking 26 percent increase in exhibitors when comparing to the previous edition. New exhibiting countries for 2015 are Bulgaria, Poland and Spain and the returning countries and regions include Brazil, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the USA. There will be five pavilions this year, China, the European Union, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand (first appearance).

More industry leading players will be represented at this year’s show, including: Areon, California Scents, CTEK, HML Auto, Launch Tech, MA-FRA, Mazda, Meklas Automotive, Newera Equipment, Prince Lubricants, PROTON, Shell Helix, Stahlwille, Vierol Asia, V L Test Systems, Winhere Auto-Part and Wonder Internation.

As the foremost automotive and aftermarket industry trade event in the ASEAN region and in order to further the development of the region’s auto industry, this year Automechanika Kuala Lumpur has implemented the new “Career Corner”, led by the MAI. It aims to attract more people to study or work in this market, promoting a healthy and prosperous development of the field. Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will offer a platform for companies and education institutions to come together to introduce the industry and meet potential career candidates.

Most ever offerings in fringe programme provides something for everyone

To cater to the industry’s demand, the “Go Green” coverage and focus has been expanded with a series of activities this year, including seminars, test drives, product showcases and demonstrations, aiming to help attendees understand this fast growing environmental trend. The leading Japanese auto manufacturer Mazda will display their latest models of EEVs and attendees can experience their advanced features from test drives.

Additionally, the regionally renowned car manufacturer giant PROTON and MAI will launch the “Safe Car Event” where a “half-cut” vehicle will be displayed to demonstrate quality safe parts and components, as well as technologies to visitors. “As an automobile industry fair organiser, we assist in promoting the development of industry advances here at Automechanika Kuala Lumpur. We hope by hosting such events as the “Safe Car Event” in our Go Green programme we can help raise awareness of road safety and environmental protection. Together with renowned car manufacturer, PROTON and our co-organiser, MAI, this new programme will have a successful launch. We believe Automechanika Kuala Lumpur is a wonderful platform gathering industry players from around the world to work this out,” said Ms Fiona Chiew, Deputy General Manager, Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd.

This year’s fair will also see the return of the successful Automechanika Kuala Lumpur Mechanics Challenge. The exciting grand final among the eight winning teams of the preliminary test will be held onsite throughout the show. This national competition has been highly recognised in the field of mechanics, and awareness and support have been growing from the industry. More sponsors have signed up to be a part of the competition this year. Continuing from the previous edition, the diamond sponsor is Shell Helix, Mazda is the car sponsor and the product sponsor is Stahlwille. New sponsors for 2015 include product sponsors Newera Equipment and Wonder Internation.

This year’s fringe programme provides the most ever opportunities as the show is becoming more recognised as a solid platform in the industry. Various associations, institutes and exhibitors organised different activities, presentations and information. The new fringe programme includes:

- Product presentation hosted by Spandy Tool Marketing Sdn Bhd
- Auto Audio, Accessories and Air-Condition Traders Association of Malaysia’s (AAA) Annual General Meeting
- MAI − Industry Professional Certification Trainee Skill Demonstration
- MAI-JPK SKM Convocations for the Working Technicians
