Dubai, United Arab Emirates 26th of March, 2015: The 10th edition of the International Emergency & Catastrophe Management Conference & Exhibition (IECM 2015) concludes today at the Dubai International Convention Center with the participation of a number of local and international figures in the field of emergency and catastrophe management. Being a convergence point for local, regional and international professionals from emergency services and first responders, civil defense organizations, disaster planning and managing authorities, NGO’s , Health Sector, Government Agencies, IECM 2015 contributed towards the capacity building of the responders during an emergency. The event focused on issues faced during emergencies through new practices, methodologies, and case studies discussed by experts from the field.
The conference agenda covered several topics during the three days of the event such as: The History of Emergency Medicine in the MENA region, Emergency services and Disaster Management, Emergency crises and disaster management system in Dubai, Dubai Police Experience in Creating a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Unit, and Suggested Defense Equipment System in Crisis and Catastrophe Management and many others.
On the other hand, the exhibition showcased the latest innovations in the field of emergency medical services & equipment, ambulance services, emergency service vehicles, emergency medicines, search & rescue equipment, and many more. Dubai Ambulance participated in IECM Conference and Exhibition this year with a variety of smart services and vehicles. Keeping their trend, Dubai Ambulance is engaging in social activities that entail it to explain to the public its main targets. Those targets, which integrate with Dubai Ambulance’s vision, aim to exchange views and offer suggestions and innovative ideas with the public which work on serving patients in the best manner and saving the lives of the injured.
Of those services presented by Dubai Ambulance during IECM, is the new intelligent service dubbed the NFC Medic. The NFC MEDIC is a smart innovative service based on an electronic NFC chip that stores data. This data reflects the whole medical history of the person carrying it, along with phone numbers to call in case of an emergency, in addition to all the information about the health insurance details and the physicians. This smart chip can be stored in a keychain, a plastic card, or a wrist watch. All this data stored on the NFC Medic chip can be accessed with one swipe from any smart phone that supports the NFC technology, which is becoming widely spread in most recent smart phones.
In addition to that, Dubai Ambulance introduced its new Polaris ambulance car. Basically, Polaris is a rapid ambulatory vehicle designed to respond to emergencies and incidents happening over rigid terrain, allowing it to reach the injured in such areas which the normal ambulance car cannot reach. Dubai Ambulance also announced its new maternity care ambulance that is 100% operated by female paramedics, in keeping with Arabic and Islamic traditions in the UAE. Lastly, a special ambulance for patients with special needs was announced as well during the exhibition.
Dubai Ambulance had also put on display in its pavilion in IECM its high-speed First Responder sports car (Dodge). This muscle car is capable of reaching the sick and injured in vital areas in the emirate with utmost speed.The vehicle has a modern look like no other first-responder car. It is driven by a specially trained paramedic, qualified to drive at high speeds with high accuracy. This paramedic is thus capable of treating the sick and injured and to reach them in record time.
On another scope, IECM Conference and Exhibition has witnessed this year a remarkable participation from the General Department of Drug Control in Dubai Police who had participated for the goal of raising awareness about the disastrous consequences of drugs.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani, Director of the General Department of Drug Control in Dubai Police said: “We will be sharing with the conference participants and the exhibition visitors the latest awareness programs aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of drugs to schools and university students, in addition to another program which contains a package of information about the drug damage and the deadly impact it has on the human body.”
