Exhibitors and visitors applauded the show’s professionalism and importance within the South China region
Insightful fringe programme covered wide spectrum of industry sectors
The sixth edition of the SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou successfully concluded one of its most comprehensive editions to date, showcasing a wide variety of products from robotics to machine vision, sensor and measurements, connectivity systems, drive systems and control technologies. Held from 9 – 11 March 2015 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, the fair welcomed 483 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, who utilised 40,000 sqm of exhibition space to display their latest solutions and products.
A large portion of the world’s top brands in automation technology development could be found throughout the fair’s four halls. Some of the brands in attendance this year included Siemens, Phoenix Contact, Turck, Balluff, Murrelektronic, Rittal, Sanyo Denki, Elco, P+F, Beckhoff, Lti, Wago, Banner, Moons, Nachi, Yaskawa, Epson, GSK, Estun Robotics, Cognex and more. Additionally, during the three-day show, manufacturers represented a large portion of the Guangzhou show where attendance totalled 39,055 visitors from 40 countries and regions. Also, a total of 138 domestic and international delegations from Midea, Gree, TCL, Faw-Volkswagen, Honda, BYD and others attended, affirming the importance of SPS - Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou to the industry’s growth.
Mr Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, one of the organisers of the fair said: “With automation technology being one of the main focuses for China’s manufacturing industry, the Guangzhou show’s significance has never been greater. We are delighted to have gathered an astounding group of industrial automation experts and suppliers from around the world to showcase their state-of-the-art products. Through my interactions with the exhibitors, they were generally pleased with the high number of decision-making contacts they were able to make through the show, while visitors praised the exceptional quality of solutions on display. Overall, I am pleased the fair has become one of the must-attend annual events for the industry.”

With the continuous growing demand for higher precision, energy conservation and uniform quality dictating the goals of China’s manufacturing sector, the Guangzhou show’s significance has never been greater. Both new and returning exhibitors saw the fair as an effective platform for business expansion in China.
Nachi (Shanghai) Co Ltd, a first-time exhibitor to the fair from Japan, attended in order to expand its company brand and promote its range of industrial automated robotic arms. Mr Liu Xiao Bing, Deputy General Manager, Master Sales Director from the company commented: “I am pleased to report that our exhibition results are very promising as there were large numbers of professional buyers at our booth. Surprisingly, most were very knowledgeable with the products we have on display. This translated into an abundance of business opportunities for our company within South China. Overall, the Guangzhou show is a success for our company.”
For loyal exhibitor from Germany, Phoenix Contact (China) Holding Co Ltd, the fair provided a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on the growing manufacturing markets in South China. Ms Cherry Wang, Event Management Manager of the company, expressed: “Over the years, the Guangzhou show has made a name for itself for being one of the most important automation events for our company in South China. The fair has evolved closely with the industry trends, and is also a reputable platform for us to expand our client base and create new opportunities for various business applications. Overall, we are satisfied with visitor flow and positive contacts as well as feedback we have acquired at the show.”
Another long-term exhibitor returning this year was Wago Electronic (Tianjing) Co Ltd. Ms Li Xia, Marketing Services Department Manager for the firm shared the same sentiments. She said: “SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou is one of the best industrial automation fairs within South China regions. With the show being held early in the calendar year, it is an ideal time to promote our newest products and corporate branding. In the many years of our participation, we have witnessed constant improvements in quality and size, these are also the core reasons that draw us back to the show every year.”
Visitors were impressed by the prominent brands presented, and the diversity of products and technologies displayed at the fair. With such a wide range of automation solutions on offer, they were given the chance to source products and technologies for all areas of their business.
First-time visitor Mr Tanel Lillesaar, Board Member for Baltkilp Electrical Cabinets Assembly from Estonia, commented: “I came to the Guangzhou fair to source local suppliers for electrical cabinets, switchboards, sensors and connectors, and terminals. I was not only delighted to see leading brands including Siemens, Turck and others but was also able to connect with a number of suppliers onsite. For us, we value product quality over cost and the products on display are of high quality. With that being said, I really look forward to visiting the show again next year.”
Returning visitor, Mr Wan Jinhua, Project Director of Research and Development Center for Guangdong Siwun Logistic Equipment Co Ltd, expressed: “I returned to the 2015 show to source for the latest machine vision and robotic technology that can be implemented by my company’s existing production line. By attending the fair, I was able to get a better understanding of the technology development as well as the market trend. Like every year, I was able to source for new suppliers and business partners. I will most definitely be back again next year.”
Insightful fringe programme cover wide spectrum of industry sectors
In order to address some of the most pressing issues within the automation industry, while providing insight to upcoming trends and recent innovations, a series of seminars, forums and product presentations were held concurrently with the 2015 show. With over 100 sessions taking place, discussion topics were designed once again with the support of the AMA Association for Sensors Technology, Mesago Messe Frankfurt, Sercos, and other domestic industry associations including the Guangdong Automation Association and the Guangzhou Automation Association.
Mr Tingqi Wang, Product Manager of Schmersal Industrial Switchgear (Shanghai) Co Ltd, held a presentation on the “Application of Sensor Positioning and Measuring Technology Industry”. Sharing his experience during his presentation, he mentioned: “The presentation was a fruitful experience for us and provided a platform to directly communicate with fellow industry players. Through this interactive platform, I got a better understanding of the challenges they faced while at the same time provide them with instant feedback. Overall, I am very satisfied with the outcome of the seminar.”
Ms Qinfang Jin, Technical Support Manager of Greater China at Festo (China) Ltd, gave an insightful presentation on Industry 4.0 and her firm. Representing one of the world’s leading firms specialising in the field of innovative automation technology, she said: “The well-thought-out seminars are extremely worthwhile, bringing mutual benefits to attending industry experts and enterprises. Additionally, the quality of visitors was high, as a majority of them raised a number of challenging questions on our products. All in all, I think this was a successful event and I was glad to be a part of it.”
Returning attendee, Mr Bo Wu, Manager for Technical Support Department of Microview Science and Technology Co Ltd, was appreciative of the wealth of information the show’s concurrent event offered to industry professionals. He noted: “Our company specialises in researching and developing frame grabber boards, high-speed and high-resolution cameras and I am here to get a better idea of the latest technological advancements for industrial cameras. Of all the seminar topics, I was most interested in the “Detect Mark Beyond Your Imagination” presentation by SICK. The concurrent events are not only informative but also present a good platform for business interactions.”
