Muscat, Oman, 10 May 2015—“With the demand for utilities steadily rising, the pressing need to instill awareness about the importance of power and water conservation is necessary,” says Dr. Ali Hamed Al Ghafri, chairman’s assistant for International Relations and Conferences.
This demand, along with the development and achievements of the sector over the last decade, has spurred the need for organizer Omanexpo in partnership with the Public Authority for Electricity & Water (PAEW), the regulatory and administrative body of Oman’s utility sector, to organize the first Oman Energy and Water Exhibition & Conference, the first event of its kind in the Sultanate.
Ahmed Sayed, exhibition manager, remarks, “Oman Energy and Water comes in line with our CSR initiatives, emphasizing the value of power and water resources and the implications of the shortage of these resources, and the impact on the country’s future in the long term.”
“To reinforce the CSR thrust, the accompanying conference will include in the agenda, topics on strategies for efficient energy generation and use and water management.”
“The event is also aligned with our continuous efforts to present a ready platform for individuals and businesses to introduce their product or service offerings to the market as well as provide opportunities for investment and private and public participation,” he adds.
Currently, the significant lineup of multi-billion key power and water projects have been attracting a lot of investment in new infrastructure. This includes the US$ 1.6 billion Sur Independent Power Plant Project, Oman’s largest power project, the Wadi Dayqah Water Treatment Project, the Salalah 2 Independent Power Plant, and the Quriyat Desalination Plant Project.
Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and Conference, organized in conjunction with Arab Energy Efficiency Day, will be held from May 19 to 21 at the Oman International Exhibition Center.
It is an international event dedicated to the power generation, renewable and alternative energy and transmission and distribution, and water-related industries, and designed to be a platform for stakeholders to discuss real issues and solutions to the energy and water challenges and opportunities in Oman.
Included in the event’s sponsor roster are Nama Group (Strategic Partner), Siemens (Lead Sponsor), ACWA Power and Wartsila (Gold Sponsors), Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trdg & Innovation Park Muscat (Silver Sponsors), Nuhas Oman Cables & Wires and Engie (Associate Sponsors), and Mitsubishi Corporation (Lanyard Sponsor).
