Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) will present their residue upgrading projects at Euro Petroleum Consultant’s BBTC Middle East & Africa 2015 – Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference which focuses on optimum technology solutions for residue upgrading on 9 & 10 December 2015 in Abu Dhabi. BBTC Middle East & Africa 2015 is a unique event and the only residue upgrading conference to be held in the Middle East region.

Stefan Chapman, Vice President of Euro Petroleum Consultants, explains why BBTC is the single most important event for the residue-upgrading community, “In today’s global and highly competitive refined products market, producers must be able maximise margins on every barrel of crude oil processed. Technology is constantly evolving and it is vital that producers and suppliers stay up-to-date in this rapidly developing sector of the refining industry. Residue processing is becoming essential to Middle Eastern and African refiners and this is the premier event for staying up-to-date with developments”.

The two day conference will hear from many of the leading technology companies in residue upgrading. Albemarle, one of the companies presenting their technology, tell us why they see residue upgrading continuously evolving for the next few years “The higher distillate demand and price combined with the decreasing fuel oil demand drive the upgrading. It is happening more in the Middle East and Asia Pacific while growing their oil refining capacities”.

The conference will include the following topics: global and regional market overviews, integrated solutions for residue upgrading and hydrogen and sulphur management. BASF who will present their key residue upgrading technology FCC Catalysts Portfolio say they expect an increase in catalysts demand over the long term due to the growth in use of heavier and sourer crudes.

Delegate registration is now open for the conference that takes place on 9 & 10 December at the Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
