There are only 22 days left before the 2015 Golden Pin Design Award call for entries period closes for the year. International companies hoping to prove their prowess in huaren (Chinese-speaking) markets cannot afford to miss the chance to be named a Golden Pin Best Design winner in November.
As in past years, entries have poured in this year from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, but products and projects have also been submitted for the first time from companies in countries both close to home, such as Thailand, or far afield, such as Denmark and New Zealand.
Leading local, regional, and international design companies feature among the several hundred entries received so far in 2015, such as:
• DEESAWAT, from Thailand, which submitted the intriguing Unipoli Couple Lounger, a furniture product made from stainless steel, teak, and a durable sling fabric that encourages couples to relax separately outdoors while still staying connected.
• Far Eastone Telecommunications Co. Ltd, one of the largest telecommunications companies in Taiwan, which entered the innovative FET Self-Care APP, an application that helps Far Eastone customers access their customer care services with ease.
• Jacob Jensen | Detao Shanghai (Denmark / China), the China branch of the company founded by the renowned Danish industrial designer, Jacob Jensen, which entered their groundbreaking bluetooth-activated Smart Lock.
• WEIJENBERG, the company–headed by Singapore-based, Dutch-registered architect Camiel Weijenberg–that is behind the already multi-award winning design of RAW, one of Taiwan’s most celebrated restaurants due to both the culinary prowess of its chef and founder, Andre Chiang, and the aesthetic experience of its interior.
Individuals or companies that are selling, manufacturing, or designing products or projects within or for a huaren (Chinese-speaking) country or region are eligible to enter the Golden Pin Design Award in 2015. Entries are accepted in four categories: Product Design, Visual Communication Design, Packaging Design, and Spatial Design. Entered products and projects are assessed in three stages by an expert jury. Winners receive a Golden Pin Design Mark–an indicator of innovation that they can use to market their product or design project–or a Best Design trophy (awarded in a ceremony in Taipei in November), and brand exposure through the public and media relations efforts of the Golden Pin team.
