Muscat, Oman, 14 June 2015—Omanexpo general manager Nader Abbas, speaking at the first Euro-Arab Forum themed “The Middle East-New Opportunities for Bulgarian Businesses” at the Hilton Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 3, presented the various business and investment opportunities in Oman, highlighting the government’s priority sectors of food processing, healthcare, medical education, pharmaceuticals, transport infrastructure, construction and manufacturing.

Apart from emphasizing the modern infrastructure in place in Oman, free market access through the country’s trade agreements, and Oman’s business-friendly environment, Abbas cited the government’s initiatives to boost spending on these sectors while focusing on the market potentials that Omanexpo’s major trade shows such as The BIG Show, Food & Hospitality Oman and Oman Health Exhibition & Conference offers.

A news release by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) mentions that “the conference will be provided information about three of the most visited and most comprehensive exhibitions in one of the richest and fastest-growing countries in the Arab World—Oman. The exhibitions are Oman Health—health, medical technology and equipment, Food & Hospitality Oman—for the food industry, and The BIG Show Oman—building, construction and interior design exhibition.”

The Forum was organized by Euro-Arab Business Forum (EABF), Ltd. in cooperation with BCCI with the support of The Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export (ITHRAA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria.

ITHRAA also presented the opportunities in sectors identified by the government as areas for economic development growth and investment.

Abbas addressed a diplomatic gathering comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria, ambassadors from Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Sudan and Palestine, including Ali Al-Kathiry, representative in Bulgaria for Oman, and about 150 Bulgarian companies representing the food, health, construction and mining sectors.

He says “I am honored to have been given the opportunity to present Oman as a potentially large market for companies in Bulgaria to explore and invest in. This comes at an opportune time when Bulgaria is seeking to shift investment focus on emerging markets in the Middle East, Oman in particular.”

“As Oman is dependent on imports, this will hopefully pave the way for new investment in tourism, construction, medical tourism, and mining exploration, for which Bulgaria is committed to provide business support. We are pleased to have received a positive response from a good number of Bulgarian companies for our events,” he adds.

Presently, BCCI is looking to establish cooperation ties with Gulf countries.
