Taipei June 24, 2015: To serve it best five trade shows have combined to cover every link of the food chain. This is one event that offers the biggest bite on food!
Visitors to the TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) organized shows can match their interests. There's 2015 Food Taipei (the Taipei Int'l Food Show), FoodTech & PharmaTech Taipei (Taipei Int'l Food Processing & Pharm. Machinery Show), Taipei Pack (Taipei Int'l Packing Industry Show), Taiwan HORECA (Taiwan Int'l Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering Show), and Halal Taiwan (Taiwan Int'l Halal Expo).
This combo of expos opens the entire menu on the food industry from raw materials, processing and manufacturing equipment to restaurant and catering services. This one-stop sourcing hub for buyers and is also the largest food-related expo in Taiwan. It's also an important platform for Taiwan to showcase its products and tech to the world.
This year's show features a combined total of 1,642 exhibitors operating 3,920 exhibition booths that are warming up to meet an projected 66,000 visitors from home and abroad during the June 24–27 show days at TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1.
FOOD TAIPEI: 36 countries & Taiwan serve the best in food!
FOOD Taipei is renowned for offering a global festival in food and culture. This year, 1,088 exhibitors are using 2,140 show booths. Well represented are three well-known regions in Taiwan — Yunlin, Tainan and Kaohsiung, each with their own pavilions. They form an ideal backdrop to 36 national pavilions that represent cuisine from around the world. The record turnout of countries, underscore a new interest in food. New nations at the show include Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Paraguay, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Taiwan Pavilion, hosted by the Executive Yuan's Council on Agriculture spotlights the theme of "Innovative agriculture for better and safer food" and is out to present the most authentic taste of Taiwan! In order to increase buyers' confidence in Taiwan products, the Executive Yuan's food safety office has put together the slogan "Taiwan food products set sail to bring peace of mind". Various government agencies are also exhibiting at the show such as the Council of Agriculture's Taiwan Pavilion with its "Food Tracking Area". This project is developed in conjunction with the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan Quality Food Association's Taiwan Quality Food Pavilion. These agencies are coordinating their events with the show's Food Safety Week events.
Int'l Wine & Spirits Area pops open bottles of wine & liquor
Many visitors will delight at the plethora of alcoholic beverages including red and white wines, whiskies, beers and sake in the Int'l Wine and Spirits Area at TWTC Exhibition Hall 1. This year features Hungarian Royal Tokaji sweet white wine, fine wines from Domaine de Baron'arques winery in southern France, Canadian ice wine and more. The venue also provides professional wine glass rental services to allow visitors to experience the exquisite aroma and taste of fine wines. During the exhibition, several free wine seminars on topics such as wine knowledge, wine and food pairings, and wine selection will be offered. Organizers have also invited foreign and local wine experts to offer a deeper understanding of wine.
New Tech in Food Processing & Packaging Machinery
FoodTech & PharmaTech Taipei has a total of 339 exhibitors using 1,121 exhibition booths. ANKO Food Machine, Jaw Feng Machinery, Toppan Printing and other well-known companies in the food processing, pharmaceutical, packaging and printing industry have eagerly sought a spot at the show. The food processing machinery and packaging machinery industries in Taiwan are internationally recognized for their high quality, competitive pricing and after sale servicing. Going forward, these fields will continue to become more energy efficient, achieve greater production capacity and match increasingly specialized processing needs. On June 25, TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 hosts two seminars on the topics of "Application Trends and Innovative Technology in Packaging Materials" and "How to Deal with the Post-Styrofoam Era." The two seminars will analyze current trends to identify the next steps being taken to keep Taiwan competitive.
HORECA hosts record Exhibitors for record size show
Taiwan HORECA is custom made to meet the needs of hotels, restaurants, bakeries and catering services in Taiwan. The show is jointly organized by TAITRA and Chan Chao International and this year's record scale venue hosts nearly 200 exhibitors who are using 600 exhibition booths in TWTC Hall 1 - a 15% increase from last year.
The show features exhibitors such as DKSH Taiwan, Asia Great Land, Unitech, Nestle, Eslite Living and other major brands that showcase freezers, ovens, fryers, equipment, chinaware, and more. This expo offers a comprehensive overview of the restaurant and catering industry. The show also features a "Smile MIT Area" that is executed by TAITRA and officially organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Bureau of Foreign Trade. The area exhibits 15 high-quality Taiwan firms that make towels, bedding, shoes and clothing that enhance the MIT (Made in Taiwan) brand.
Halal Taiwan embraces the emerging Islamic Market
The 3rd annual Halal Taiwan is an exhibition platform dedicated to helping manufacturers who want to enter the Muslim market. In addition to halal food products, daily necessities, cosmetics, and healthcare products, Halal Taiwan will, for the first time, exhibit vegetarian shacha sauce and other sauces in partnership with AGV. It also feature halal tapioca balls, a variety of jams, and other condiments in collaboration with Sunnysyrup Food Co. Close to 30 exhibitors from Taiwan's halal industry have signed on to gain a higher profile in the massive Muslim market which serves more than 2 billion people worth an estimated US$700 billion!
Procurement Discussions for International Buyers
A highlight at this year's 5-in-1 Food Expo is the series of procurement discussions. Over 3,500 foreign buyers from nearly 120 countries, including the USA, Canada, Japan and Brazil, have already signed up for the discussions after receiving invitations from TAITRA and overseas units of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The organizers have arranged for two separate events, the Procurement Meeting for International Food Product Distributors and the 5-in-1 Food Expo Procurement Discussions that take place June 24 and 25 respectively allow for negotiations and increased procurement orders.
Live Cooking Shows spice things up
During the expo, the stage area in NANGANG Hall features exotic cuisine shows. Chefs from Spain, Belgium, Peru, El Salvador and Thailand will prepare food live on stage, and invite visitors to sample their dishes. There will also be new product launches from 19 companies, making the 4-day event even more exciting.
FREE Shuttles NANGANG ←→ TWTC Halls
To supplement the NANGANG and Xinyi lines of the Taipei MRT, the organizer has also arranged free shuttle buses to run between venues to make visiting and purchasing more convenient. For the first three show days, the 5-in-1 expo will only be open to professionals with proper identification (an invitation and business card must be presented to obtain a badge). On June 27, the expo opens to the public (Tickets are NT$300 each). Children under the age of 12 are not permitted entry to venue.
