The 2015 Medicare Taiwan (Taiwan Int’l Medical & Healthcare Exhibition), opens on June 18 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, in conjunction with SenCare (Taiwan International Senior Lifestyle and Health Care Show), TaiHerb (Taiwan International Herbs & Functional Foods Expo), and P&B Taiwan (Taiwan International Parenting & Baby Care Show). At the opening ceremony, Peter W.J. Huang, the president and CEO of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Ms. Shu-mei Yang, deputy director of Bureau of Foreign Trade(BOFT) have both expressed that the medical industry can make good use of Taiwan’s comparative advantages in integrating ICT with medical devices, and thus be able to further develop Telecare.
Huang quotes data from IEK ( the Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center) that Taiwan medical products market total transaction value is estimated NT$21.9 trillion in Q1, 2015, a 14% growth on the same period in the previous year. Despite global economic downturn in recent years, the medical industry market continues to grow. To promote Taiwan’s medical industry in the global market, TAITRA also organizes “Taiwan Excellence Award” competition and exhibits the winning entries overseas.
Yang indicates that the number of exhibitors and booths have doubled since the first edition of MEDICARE. This 4-in-1 mega show provides an excellent platform for one-stop shopping for trade visitors home and abroad. BOFT helps Taiwanese companies expand into overseas markets by organizing country pavilions in medical trade shows worldwide, such as in Düsseldorf (Germany) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). Furthermore, BOFT will launch “Taiwan Medical and Health-care Trade Mission to Middle East” this coming August. With intensive collaboration between the public and private sectors, Yang looks forward to creating more business and job opportunities in the future.
Medicare and TaiHerb are exclusively open to domestic professionals who receive admission ticket with their business cards on June 19, while June 20-21 is open with free admission to all visitors. SenCare and P&B are open with free admission for all during the entire exhibition.
