On-site concurrent events provided informative sessions regarding the newest industry and product trends
PCIM Asia, an international exhibition and conference for power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy and energy management wrapped up on 26 June at the Shanghai World Expo Center with great success. The three-day events, which ran from 24 – 26 June, welcomed 77 exhibitors while covering 5,300 sqm of exhibition space.
The fair, held concurrently with the inaugural SPS Automation Shanghai, attracted a total of 4,911 visitors, representing 12% increase over 2014, from 27 countries and regions who were able to source items including the latest semiconductors, passive components as well as power and thermal management systems. Whether they were involved in distribution or were sourcing for upcoming projects, buyers were offered an impressive array of technologies and solutions to meet their needs.
Favourable participant reviews highlight the success of the events
For exhibitors, the fair offered a professional platform to promote their products to China’s increasingly discerning power electronics markets.
Mitsubishi Electric, loyal exhibitor from Japan, is a leading manufacturer for a variety of semiconductor and electronic devices. Mr Song Gao Sheng, Senior Director, Field Application Engineering Center, Greater China Mitsubishi Electric Semiconductor, Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics (Shanghai) Co Ltd complimented the organisation and exhibition results at the fair. He said: “The organisation of the fair continues to improve every year and even more so after Messe Frankfurt’s involvement. The professionalism of this well-organised platform provided us reasons to invite our clients to visit us at our booth and compare our products with our competitors in future editions of the fair.”
Another long-term exhibitor returning this year was Infineon Technologies, which participates in PCIM Asia every year for brand promotion and increasing exposure. This year Infineon introduced its latest products including high power inverters, IGBTS and .XT interconnection technology. Ms Sara Xu, Communication Specialist from the company, said: “Visitors showed great interest in our displays and were eager to discuss and exchange ideas with us. We have obtained a great deal of market intelligence and leads during the three days. There were a number of potential clients who have indicated cooperation opportunities. The show helps to expand our business. I also attended several professional seminars, which are very useful to us. We will definitely come back again next year.”
First-time exhibitor, Mr Dong Tie Chen, Sales Executive, Sales & Marketing Department from Guangzhou Solderwell Advanced Materials Co Ltd, shared the same sentiments. He said: “The visitor flow during the show was high and exceeded our expectations as many of our existing clients came to visit our booth. We also like the fact that PCIM Asia was held concurrently with SPS Automation Shanghai. The fairs complement each other and in the long run the two shows will turn into a one-stop event for power electronic components and industrial automation solutions. For us, PCIM Asia is a must-attend event!”
Visitors were equally impressed by the organisation, prominent brands in attendance and the diversity of products and technologies displayed at the fair. Mr Christoph Holtmann, Communications Manager from ABB Switzerland Ltd, commented: “I was at the show six years ago and this year I came back once again because our company is considering to exhibit next year. The fair has really improved since the last time I was here and even more so with Messe Frankfurt’s involvement. The sharp increase in visitor numbers in the past two years and visiting the show again in person strengthened our confidence for exhibiting at the fair.”
On-site concurrent events provided informative sessions regarding the newest industry and product trends
Concurrent events have also added to PCIM Asia’s success. The sector’s leading players from business and academia were invited to share their views on current industry developments and future trends. At the PCIM Asia Conference 2015, which has drawn 362 attendees, over 60 conference papers were presented during the conference and poster sessions.
Mr Kimimori Hamada, Project General Manager, Power Electronics Development Division from Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the keynote speakers at PCIM Asia Conference 2015, stated: “The conference covers an array of the latest industry trends within the power electronics market. It provides an opportunity for industry players to exchange technical information, an advantage over product promotion-based seminars in other exhibitions. PCIM Asia has the ability to encourage market development by enhancing collaboration and communications. With help from the government, China’s power electronics market is expanding rapidly. In a few years’ time, I reckon the Chinese power electronics market may be able to catch up with its European and US counterparts."
Attendee Dr Xinke Wu, Deputy Professor at the National Engineering Research Center for Applied Power Electronic Technology at Zhejiang University, expressed: “The research work I do matches with the topics offered at the conference, so I came primarily to network with industry specialists. The conference is an amazing platform for us to learn about the current and future industry trends and this benefits my research.”
PCIM Asia is jointly organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, Mesago PCIM GmbH and Shanghai Pudong International Exhibition Corp. The next edition will take place from 28 – 30 June 2016 at the Shanghai World Expo Center. For more information, please visit www.pcimasia-expo.com or email pcimasia@china.messefrankfurt.com.
