To accommodate the fast development of China’s water industry, Water Expo China 2015 will relocate to a larger arena – the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) in Beijing. The show is the premier trade and networking platform for China’s water industry and is scheduled to take place from 18 – 20 November. An expected 300 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions and 25,000 visitors are to fill the 20,000 sqm exhibition area. The expo is approved by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society.

The fair aims to address industry needs. Given that, China is placing more emphasis on urban ecology when it comes to its national strategic planning. Water governance has become one of the most pronounced environmental concerns of local governments. To cater to demands generated by the aforesaid focuses, Water Expo China will offer a spectrum of the latest technologies and solutions from international and domestic suppliers.

China’s water industry is on its way to its golden days and so is Water Expo China as it enters a new phase of development. As of July, two-thirds of exhibition space for the 2015 show has been booked, 35% of which is reserved by overseas exhibitors. Regarding the local community, ongoing fair promotion presentations in provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong were all well received. It is believed that the influence and scale of Water Expo China will grow with rising interest from local and international exhibitors.

Water Expo China has received strong support from domestic and overseas government bodies as well as trade associations, and is widely recognised as a comprehensive platform covering all aspects of the water business industry. The offerings will only continue to rise as the number of exhibitors and pavilions sign-ups keep increasing. To help visitors navigate through the large selection, the fair’s organisers will set up thematic zones to facilitate sourcing for those targeting specific product categories. The thematic zones, including some respective leading domestic exhibitors, are:

* Water business: Poten Environmental Group Co Ltd
* Water treatment technology and water industry equipment: Jinan Angel Industrial Co Ltd, Huber Environmental Technology (Taicang) Co Ltd

Debut of “Sponge City Planning and Construction Enterprises Display Area”

Earlier this year, the Chinese government’s Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Ministry of Water Resources jointly launched a national pilot project assigning 16 cities, referred to as “sponge cities”, to fully utilise rainwater. Various natural storage and natural purification systems of rainwater utilising permeation technologies will be implemented throughout these cities. A 700 sqm “Sponge City Planning and Construction Enterprises Display Area” will be set up at the Water Expo China for the first time to introduce case studies and share relative data and experiences gathered from pilot “sponge cities”. Additionally, contractors are invited to tender for pilot “sponge city” projects. It will be the ideal networking platform for industry players involved in businesses focused on rainwater utilisation, ecological water system construction, piping and drainage.

Upgraded “National Excellent Water Conservancy Scenic Area and Construction Enterprises Display Zone”

Complementing national policies advocating water ecology construction, the “National Excellent Water Conservancy Scenic Area and Construction Enterprises Display Zone” will increase to 600 sqm. In this space, 200 sqm will be dedicated to water conservancy scenic area and 400 sqm to construction enterprises. Currently, there are 658 national and over 1,000 provincial and municipal level water conservancy scenic areas in 30 provinces and cities in China. These scenic areas offer communities significant leisurely and cultural value, while their development projects have generated huge business opportunities. Furthermore, with the support from Water Conservancy Scenic Area Construction and Management Office of the Ministry of Water Resources, the winner of the “Excellent Water Conservancy Scenic Area Award” will be displayed at the display zone. Trade media from the tourism industry are invited to follow the event.
