The global ship fuel industry is at the start of a new wave as international regulations on emissions controls now mean that ships within restricted areas must use bunker fuels which contain a maximum sulphur content of 0.10%. As controlled areas are set to expand even further ship owners and operators are faced with a new era of challenges. While low prices are set to remain and with an abundant supply, natural gas fuels offer the clear economic solution and market suppliers are now offering viable alternatives to heavy diesel fuel, in particular establishing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as the leading bunker fuel of choice.
As natural gas suppliers and commercial shipping firms are working together to make LNG a fuel solution for the marine sector, ship owners and operators are increasing their orders of LNG fuelled offshore service vessels, and ferry and cargo operators are converting existing fleets to run on LNG. With a tide of new challenges ahead, this year's International Bunker Fuel 2015 is set to become the world's leading exhibition and conference exclusively for the bunker fuel industry and a large array of end users to address the specific challenges of transitioning the marine sector to run on natural gas fuels.
The key focus for this year’s conference will be "LNG & The Solutions for Marine Fuel" and the objective will be to bring global natural gas suppliers and vessel manufactures together with ship owners and operators, government representatives and policy think-tanks to collaborate and examine natural gas use in the marine sector and to address the key challenges associated with converting vessels currently using heavy diesel fuels.
Key topics on this year’s agenda include:
Natural gas market supply and demand forecasts Exploring the commercial feasibility of natural gas as a marine fuel Global infrastructure developments and the natural gas supply chain Alternative marine fuel solutions to LNG from initial investment to ROI New regulations and safety standards for using natural gas fuels End users case studies and making a successful transition This exhibition and conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders from suppliers and service providers in the natural gas fuelling industry to marine transportation and shipping companies, to network and build cross-market relationships and to discuss the latest developments in “natural gas as a marine fuel” initiatives for the international marine sector.
