ELLE Decoration partners with fair to present new Theme Display Area
Fair’s Home Style Award welcomes iF on board as partner
With less than one month to go until Interior Lifestyle China 2015 opens its doors, the country’s leading trade fair for mid-range and high-end household products and accessories is ready to announce details of its highly regarded fringe programme. The fair, which last year attracted 21,773 visitors from 60 countries and regions, will take place from 17 – 19 September in Shanghai.
Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, explains: “One aspect of what sets this fair apart from other exhibitions in China is its comprehensive fringe programme, which this year features a new Theme Display Area that has been developed in cooperation with ELLE Decoration. iF DESIGN ASIA have also come on board for the first time to partner with our renowned Home Style Award, while the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design have developed a special ‘On Design Shanghai’ area to promote the city’s design talent. This combination of international and local expertise ensures that, on the one hand, domestic buyers can learn more about overseas lifestyle and design trends and how they can be applied in China. While on the other hand, overseas exhibitors can understand more about Chinese consumers’ tastes and lifestyles to help them tap into this highly lucrative market.”
One of the main new aspects of this year’s fringe programme is an exhibition organised in conjunction with the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design. Named ‘Beyond Architecture: Special Exhibition of ON DESIGN shanghai – Interior Lifestyle China’, it features displays from 30 well-known local designers, artists and architects who are interested in crossover design, with the goal of exploring and energising the aesthetics of life from a broader view. This display is an effort to highlight the originality and inclusiveness of design work, and promote the talent of these Chinese designers to international markets around the world.
ELLE Decoration partners with fair to present new Theme Display Area
One of the most authoritative media in the domestic market, ELLE Decoration, has partnered with the fair this year to present the brand-new Theme Display Area. In this special showcase, which relates to the fair’s overall theme ‘A Return to Life’, the basic concept is to present ‘life’ as a whole instead of any single product, and to explore the connection between design and human senses.
The area features two zones – each with nine product categories – named ‘The Voice of Life’ and ‘The Touch of Life’. Because the use of products is always associated with sensory experiences, visitors will be able to experience the products on display in a range of interactive ways, and by using different senses such as hearing and touch.
Fair’s Home Style Award welcomes iF on board as partner
Established in 2008, Interior Lifestyle China’s Home Style Award is the only competition of its kind in China’s household product industry. Co-organised by the Shanghai Brand Development Center and Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd., they have worked for the first time this year with iF DESIGN ASIA – a branch of iF International Forum Design GmbH – to increase the outreach of this award and bring different perspectives to the judging process through the international participation on the jury.
The award is open to brand vendors, producers, designers, trade representatives, importers and other companies in the industry – including exhibitors of the fair as well as non-exhibitors – with winners announced at an awards ceremony held at the fair. This year, entries will be judged by an international jury of industry experts, and are accepted in five categories: 1) kitchen / tableware, 2) furniture / lighting, 3) stationery / gifts, 4) textiles / wall / floor / decorations, while for the first time in a fifth category a Home Style Concept group is on offer. For this, designers are able to showcase their interior design and home decoration concepts and ideas through their 3D displays.
In addition to all this, a number of other interactive events will take place to provide the fair’s exhibitors and visitors with the latest industry information. Speakers from some of the world’s most well-known media and retail brands will give presentations, with a number focusing on the huge potential in the country’s e-commerce market. Further details are available on the fair’s website.
