Korean Media Covered the Big Entertainment Show Live for Two Days
Dubai – United Arab Emirates, November 28th 2012: The Big Entertainment Show (BES) commenced today with more than 50 prominent speakers specialized in the games development, character, licensing and TV content industries sharing their latest researches and theories during the sessions of the (BES) which were divided into the Dubai World Game Summit, the Entertainment Content Summit and the Licensing Seminar. The summits brought forth recommendations to tackle challenges and changes in this evolving industry and created an excellent platform for businessmen, investors, and leaders of this industry to interact and discuss the latest updates and productions at a time where the worldwide market for entertainment content is growing at a very fast pace, including the Middle East Market.
The Korean Official TV and Radio agencies covered the activities of the Big Entertainment Show for two days live from Dubai through Korea Creative Contents Agency (KOCCA). The Korean participation at the exhibition was outstanding this year as so many specialized companies in the field of cartoon characters, licensing and TV & Media content were present at the show.
From his side, the President of Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Sang-Pho Hong praised the organizing committee for their excellent job at organizing such a premiere exhibition and summit in Dubai as the hub of the Middle East. He said: “The United Arab Emirates has a historical background based on Arabic culture and Islam and they have special commitment towards their traditions and towards supporting all businesses and investments and we can see that through the fast growth of (BES) during the past few years.”
This year, 16 Korean broadcast, animation and gaming companies joined (BES) under the name of Welcon Korea. And Korean Companies anticipated various business chances for mutual development with the United Arab Emirates companies. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates have excellent partnerships with Korea in different sector such as Health, Education, Technology (R&D), Health, finance and more.
The Dubai World Game Summit
The Dubai World Game Summit is a leading platform for professional game developers, publishers and investors to explore updates on the gaming industry in the region. The summit this year focused on game development in the MENA region including online games, social games, console games, game design, business and management, localization, and visual arts. A variety of topics were tackled during the past two days such as: Game Developing & Programming Session, Online & Social Games Session, Game Investment, Business & Management Session, Smartphone & Tablet Games Session, Monetization, Localization, Payment & Marketing for the Middle East’s Market and Game Development Start-Up Session.
The Entertainment Content Summit
As the entertainment content and media industry keeps on flourishing in the MENA region, the Entertainment Content Summit continues to be the key platform for professionals to explore current trends, challenges and opportunities in the fields of TV production and content acquisition, Animation, Mobile Content, IPTV, and film.
Local Content or Foreign Content, What does the viewer want?, IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) vs. OTT (Over-The-Top), Connected TV and the Future TV Experience, Mobile Content & Applications, What Makes an Animated TV Series Pitch Successful? And Talent Pooling and Growth in the Region were some of the topics tackled during the Entertainment Content Summit this year.
The Licensing Seminar
Licensing on the other hand has been a key role in the growth and development of the entertainment business in the region. This conclusion was highlighted by the strong retail sales of properties springing primarily from feature films, TV Shows, Video Games and Online Entertainment. The Licensing Seminar covered the following topics: Best Practices in Licensing, Licensing Law for Beginners, How to Pick a Winning Licensed Property and How to Sell a License.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Rotana, the Arab World’s largest label and music publisher announced today its partnership with the region’s specialist media and entertainment law firm, The Rights Lawyers. Mr. Jihad Nehme, the Executive Manager at Rotana said: “we are pleased to announce this partnership at the Big Entertainment Show today; we strive along with the Rights Lawyers to bring what is best for the licensing sector. we will launch Rotana’s new blanket music license initiative to draw attention to issues surrounding copyright infringement and the true value of music while enabling music users to properly license their use of music.”
Mr. Nehme also said: “we saw that this is a golden opportunity to enforce our rights and apply the law and save music since we are participating at one of the region’s strongest forums specialized for licensing. Through this participation we would like to spread awareness about the importance of the music copy rights and that it is time to respect the intellectual property rights of artists, ensuring they are duly compensated for the use of their music, as already happens in most markets around the world”
The Big Entertainment Show this year was an enormous success with more than 4,000 visitors and participants which made it the largest show in the Middle East Region specialized in Media and TV content, licensing, Characters and Game Development. The summits were a unique platform that opened the door for dialogue among various stakeholders in the digital content, telecom and licensing industries.
