Japanese art, design, and music are coming to Baltics. From 21st to 27th of October the very first Japan-Baltic Design Week MADE IN JAPAN invites city of Vilnius, Lithuania to enjoy and explore the best of contemporary Japan. Join the experience of conjoined Lithuanian and Japanese musical concerts, conference for creative industry leaders and international design fair with designs from around the world. Week-long Japanese celebration is set around suprising and interesting venues of the capital of Lithuania.

“Baltic creative force is ripe to be discovered by Japan. Likewise, contemporary Japan is almost unknown to Eastern Europe - it's about time we change that! There is a great potential for new ideas and projects and, with leading industry professionals meeting in Vilnius, creativity starts sparkling in no time. MADE IN JAPAN is a new platform encouraging creative exploration and collaboration among industry professionals from the Baltic States and Japan”, said Sergej Grigorjev, the founder of the project and organizer of the untraditional cultural festival “nowJapan”.

MADE IN JAPAN kicks off with a series of musical performances. On the 21st of October world-known Lithuanian accordionist Martynas Levickis accompanied by Japanese duo Taca and Aco are hosting an opening concert at Piano.lt Concert Hall. Later on, R. Rančys Jazz Trio will perform together with jazz producer Yasushi Ishii. While the winds master Saulius Petreikis together with Naoko Kikuchi and Lithuania’s electronic music stars Munpaunz and Fingalick with Quibibi and many others will perform in other cities.

MADE IN JAPAN creative industries conference takes place on 23rd – 24th of October in industrial venues of Vilnius. Leading experts, creatives and entrepreneurs will share first-hand knowledge on how to make the first steps in Asia’s market. Participants and speakers of the conference are encouraged to share experience, ideas and contacts. More than 70 professionals and design studios are coming to share their knowledge and passion.

„We have quite a few success stories of collaboration between creatives of Lithuania and Japan. Japan. Lithuanian linen clothing brands are a bestseller in Japan. Japanese audience is open for quality novelties, especially if it tastes good. Hence Lithuanian hand-made chocolate brand „Chocolate Naive” found its way to hearts of Japanese through tastebuds and design. These successful stories inspire and encourage others to make a move. And MADE IN JAPAN is a good starting point for that!“, told Mr. Grigorjev.

Busiest part is MADE IN JAPAN Design Fair, held in Vilnius Academy of Arts Chess Hall. For the first time more than 50 object, interior, clothing and accessory designers from Japan, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will present their works in one place. This year's concept - lifestyle that fits in a bag - assures that visitors will find here all kind of creative accessories, clothes and other items.
