On April 23 the signing and inauguration ceremony for the University of Helsinki-Nanjing University Joint International Research Laboratory of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences was held on Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University. Nanjing University Vice President Pan Yi presided over the ceremony.
Nanjing University Prof. Fu Congbin, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Nanjing University Emeritus Professor Markku Kulmala, Director of the Division of Atmospheric Sciences of the University of Helsinki, briefed the audience on the preparation background, achieved cooperation results, scientific orientation and future development plan of the Joint International Research Laboratory.
President Pan Yi read the decision to establish the Joint International Research Laboratory of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences of Nanjing University.
Nanjing University Chancellor Prof. Zhang Yibin and the University of Helsinki President Jukka Kola signed the Memorandum of Understanding about jointly establishing the International Research Laboratory of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences and cooperating in air quality education.
Chancellor Zhang Yibin, President Jukka Kola, Counsellor Mika Tirronen of Education and Science of the Embassy of Finland in China, Academician Fu Congbin, and Prof. Markku Kulmala jointly unveiled the Joint International Research Laboratory.
