DUBAI, United Arab Emirates--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GITEX Technology Week runs this year from October 18th-22nd in Dubai. GITEX is widely considered one of the best platforms for entering the Middle Eastern and African markets. The Middle East famous for its purchasing power, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has organized a delegation of Taiwan’s ICT companies to exhibit at GITEX, as well as set up a display of the COMPUTEX TAIPEI design & innovation (d&i) awards.
TAITRA also held a Taiwan Products Launch and Int'l Press Conference on the second day of GITEX. Hosted this year by Director Shyh Perng Chang of the Taiwan Trade Centre Dubai, the press conference promotes Taiwan’s ICT industry, highlighting premium Taiwanese companies that showcase the island’s excellence in research and development, design, manufacturing, and branding. Director General Sy-Kung Yang of the Commercial Office of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Dubai and Director General Faisal An of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (Economic Division) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attended the conference.
At the press conference, ASUS unveiled the newest additions to their Zen line—the latest ZenBook, ZenPad, and ZenWatch—and their latest gaming products, one of the most popular sectors in ICT. EnGenius displayed network switches, wireless routers, and ceiling-mounted dual concurrent APs, providing stable and convenient long-distance wireless connectivity. International digital imaging company HiTi Digital Inc. showed off their newest professional quality photo printers at consumer prices. Leading global provider of IP-based networking products and solutions PLANET Technology Corp introduced their newest home automation controller and long-distance LAN switch as part of a complete network solution targeting the Middle Eastern market. QNAP, self-described “Quality Network Appliance Provider”, continues to upgrade its network attached storage (NAS) and network video recorder (NVR) solutions.
GITEX this year is held under the theme “The Internet Future of Everything” and focuses on solutions for a technological city. The theme covers the Internet of Things, smart cities, drones, 3D printing, and robotics. Major international exhibitors include Dell, Intel, Microsoft Google, Oracle, ZTE, and Huawei among the 3,600 exhibitors from 62 countries. More than 143,000 visitors are expected throughout the five-day event.
The COMPUTEX d&i awards have been exhibited at CES, MWC, IFA, and GITEX since 2012. This year’s GITEX stop, the exhibit drew many visitors since the first day who have expressed interest in purchasing many of the displayed products. TAITRA will continue to promote the COMPUTEX d&i awards at major international shows and will expand the tour to include India and Indonesia, assisting the award-winning companies to break into emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
