The first Asia eCommerce Forum was held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall on October 7, 2015.
Organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and co-hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Internet and E-Commerce Association (TiEA), the 2015 Asia eCommerce Forum was joined by high profile speakers from major e-commerce stakeholders including Google, Facebook, Twitter, Lazada, and Criteo.
Addressing the forum's opening ceremony, TAITRA Vice Chairman Dr. San Gee said that while Taiwan's e-commerce industry is growing at a steady pace of 8 percent per year, the local market is relatively small and highly competitive, so the industry's future growth will rely on cross-border opportunities. He emphasized that for operators to achieve success in cross-border e-commerce, they can consider key factors such as having a strong logistics network, a localized customer service network, and a viable overseas expansion strategy.
The 2015 Asia eCommerce Forum was joined by an audience of over 800 people, and the entire event was steamed live to more than 600 online viewers.
The forum featured guest speakers Scott Beaumont, president of Google of Greater China; Christina Lin, director of Facebook's division for small and medium-sized enterprises in Greater China; Alan Lan, head of online sales at Twitter in Greater China, Aimone Ripa di Meana, Lazada CEO (Hong Kong), and Masahiro (Max) Ueno, Criteo Executive Vice President APAC.
