27 October 2015 – The 17th HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and continues through 30 October. Business connectivity and networking opportunities for the lighting industry are enhanced this year by the launch of a new event, World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories, which will be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo from 28 to 31 October. Both events are organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

This year’s edition of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) has attracted a record number of more than 2,550 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions. Adding to the diversity of the fair, new companies from Marshall Islands, Saudi Arabia, and Seychelles are making their first appearances at the event.

Meanwhile, World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories, which opens tomorrow, features over 170 exhibitors displaying the latest products and technology in such areas as street lighting, architectural lighting, stadium lighting and high bay lighting.

Global brands light up fairground

The newest innovations from across the lighting industry are on display at the Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) in various thematic zones. Spotlighting global trends, the LED & Green Lighting Zone features energy-saving and other environmentally friendly products.

The Hall of Aurora gathers the biggest industry names with BJB, Citizen, EGLO, Ford, Lumileds, Neo-Neon, Ledus and Megaman among some 520 brands on display. Meanwhile, zones dedicated to Smart Lighting & Solutions and Advertising Lighting cater to specific industry sectors.

Smart lighting and IoT

Lighting industry trends are being analysed throughout the fair period with seminars, forums and other events focusing on new business opportunities and sharing market information. Today’s seminar on “The Internet of Things: Lighting’s Next Revolution” explores the potential for the application of IoT technology in the lighting industry. Meanwhile, the Global Lighting Market Forum on Wednesday gathers industry leaders from Europe, the United States and across Asia to discuss global market trends.

New innovations on display

The Lighting Fair features many new and innovative products, including AZEL MONO LED Lamp (Booth no.:5B-C02), which is dimmable at a touch and can be removed from its base. With built-in Qi wireless charging technology, the user may charge the MONO Lamp as well as Qi-enabled smartphones simply by placing them on the lamp base. On the other hand, a brand-new series of Megaman Ingenium® Bluetooth Enabled LED lamps (Booth no.: 1D-B02) which utilizes Blue 4.0 Technology is also in the spotlight. After downloading the App, users can access lighting controls via their smart devices, including turning lights on and off, dimming, programmed scene setting and more.

A new world of outdoor lighting

Opening tomorrow, the inaugural World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories at the AsiaWorld-Expo places added emphasis on products that are used for street lighting and in other industries such as construction and mining.

Seminars on recent advancements in outdoor lighting as well as the latest standards and regulations for LED Products will be shared by industry experts on the first and second days respectively. They include tomorrow’s seminar on “Advances in Outdoor Lighting” as well as the “Latest Standards and Regulations for LED Products” seminar on Thursday.

Switching on new business opportunities

To maximise business opportunities for participants, the World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories will take place alongside the Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair (28-31 October) and Eco Expo Asia (28-31 October) at AsiaWorld-Expo. By holding the events concurrently, the HKTDC aims to create synergy between the fairgrounds and generate more networking and deal-making opportunities for industry players.

A free shuttle bus service between AsiaWorld-Expo and the HKCEC will be arranged (28-30 October) for participants to attend the concurrent events at the two venues.
