Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will organize the 29th Taipei International Cycle Show (TAIPEI CYCLE) from 2nd to 5th of March next year (2016), at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Nangang Exhibition Hall and the second floor of TWTC Hall 1. Exhibitors include Giant, Merida, KMC, Maxxis, Kenda, SRAM, SHIMANO, and Accell Group, with exhibits spanning complete bikes, parts, accessories, e-bikes and components.
Despite recent challenges posed by overall export decline, Taiwan cycling industry remains one of 5 hidden champions that continue to grow, with growth rate reaching double digits year-to-year. TAIPEI CYCLE plays an increasingly important role of building the best platform for global bicycle industry to gather and for Taiwan cycling industry to connect with the world and to develop business opportunities.
Leading Japanese players including SHIMANO, CATEYE, and CROPS will continue to exhibit in the Show next year. JBPI (Japan Bicycle Promotion Institute), which has formed the first-ever Japan Pavilion with 11 companies in 2015 year, will return with 13 in 2016. Bridgestone, global leader in tires, plans to exhibit bicycles developed internally in the Pavilion.
Since 2012, TAITRA and Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA) have jointly organized the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards, implemented by iF DESIGN ASIA Ltd., and entering its fifth year in 2016. With much effort during past 4 years, the awards have built the reputation for impartiality, innovation, design and professionalism in the cycling industry worldwide. The winner of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i Gold Award-Young Enterprise 2015, by Bamboo bee of Singapore, has later been named one of "the 10 most beautiful bicycles of 2015" by BBC. It indicates that winning entries selected by the judging panel of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards are indeed leading design trends internationally.
To further promote innovation in the industry, winners of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards are on display in a dedicated zone in TAIPEI CYCLE, as well as in Interbike in the US. Special for 2016, TAITRA will also cooperate with the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center, in order to create a pavilion with winning entries of the TAIPEI CYCLE d& i awards 2016, at Velocity Global 2016 in Taipei, organized for the first time in Asia. It will center on the theme "Riding from the Present to the Future", showing global cycle industry trends towards lightweight, durable and user-friendly products. Registration for the TAIPEI CYCLE d& i awards 2016 are open until December 18, 2015.
All winners of the International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC), past and present, will also be on exhibit at Velocity Global 2016. Integrating design concepts from emerging designers and student, it will sketch the blueprint for the development of cycling industry into the future, and will also highlight the strength of Taiwan cycle industry to an audience from all over the world.
TAITRA has invited representatives from more than 20 international media to cycle around one of the most well-known bike trails in Taiwan-- Sun Moon Lake today (October 27th). Through the event, TAITRA hopes to provide media friends with first-hand experience with quality Taiwan products, including biking outfits for all participants sponsored by EXUSTAR ENTERPRISE, as well as to promote TAIPEI CYCLE 2016 and cycling among the public.

Smart bicycle that provides ride control on par with sports car Porshe 911, intelligent lithium battery pack that fully integrates with the complete bicycle, customized to meet different demands for functions and specifications by IoT(internet of things) and big data analysis, environmentally friendly bicycle pedal made with recycled rice husks instead of plastics, cargo bike handling loads up to 160 kilograms that folds into one third its full size, are just a few featured on site.
TAIPEI CYCLE 2016 will be held concurrently with the Taipei International Sporting Goods Show(TaiSPO), expanding exhibits from bicycles to indoor fitness equipment, outdoor and water sports products, making it possible for international buyers to shop for all things sport in one stop.
