Following a resounding success in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia earlier this year, the 7th Nuclear Power Asia is set to take place on 20 – 21 January, 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Besides gathering Asia’s nuclear power development industry, the 7th conference will feature emerging nuclear programmes globally, to discuss and explore various models and best practices in developing legal framework, leveraging international expertise, and developing suitable ownership and operating models for the new programmes.
Held in Indonesia, the new edition of Nuclear Power Asia Conference will provide valuable insights on key challenges along the journey of new nuclear power programme development and how collaboration can play a big part in Asia’s advancement towards a safer nuclear energy future. Against this background, the upcoming conference theme has been set as: overcoming new nuclear development challenges for emerging countries. The conference will bring together global and regional emerging nuclear agencies, NEPIOs and leading technology developers to discuss critical issues in considering and developing new nuclear power programmes.
Jakarta is the optimal choice for the 7th annual event with a new government that is striding to address energy security issues with many great initiatives, nuclear power amongst one of the key commitments. Jarman, DG of Electricity revealed that the NPP is greatly needed in the foreseeable future.
“If we look at the 2025 estimate we need nuclear power plants. At least the required capacity is 5,000MW,” Jarman said in Jakarta, 13 November 2014.
In April 2015 Rusatom announced that a consortium of Russian and Indonesian companies won a contract for the preliminary design of the multi-purpose 10 MWe HTR in Indonesia, which would be “a flagship project in the future of Indonesia’s nuclear program.”
The 7th Nuclear Power Asia will once again be the premier platform to facilitate these important discussions and collaborations.
